Our Workshop Environment

We treat all students as individuals, learning together in a supportive and relaxed environment which challenges and encourages creativity in children. We will not pressure children to be involved with activities they do not want to be involved with.

We kindly ask that parents leave children with us for the duration of our classes or holiday workshops. This is to encourage confidence throughout the sessions which can sometimes be limited by other parents/guardians watching. We will always take emergency details and contact you if there are any problems with your child settling in our workshops.

Child Protection

All Shoes on Theatre staff/volunteers must have an DBS Enhanced Disclosure and a Paediatric First Aid qualification. We take the safeguarding of children extremely seriously. See our Safeguarding policy below.

We hold personal and private information in strict confidence. See our Privacy Policy at the bottom of the page, in line with new GDPR regulations.

We have a full and recently updated Child Protection Policy in place which all staff at Shoes on Theatre (volunteers included) have read and understood. The protection of children at our drama class is of the utmost importance to us and we ensure that your child's safety is our priority.

Behaviour

We will treat all students with kindness and respect and we expect to be treated the same in return. Disrespect or bullying of other students will not be tolerated.

Fees & Cancellation policy

Fees are due before the start of the term or before a holiday workshop. We are understanding to personal circumstances but ask you to contact us if there are issues making payment. Late payment without contacting us prior may result a late payment fee.

- If you have booked and paid for a pay-as-you-go holiday workshop, this is non refundable unless we have to cancel the workshop on our end due to something unavoidable.

- If your child cannot attend a term-time class or unfortunately decides to leave Shoes on Theatre mid-term, we are unable to issue a refund in this circumstance.

Performances (Term-time students only)

The children look forward to being able to showcase their work to a live audience. We take pride in giving every child an equal and important role in our shows. All scripts are adapted to suit the children in our classes and this is why commitment is important. We expect older children to learn their lines to the best of their ability and to be ready for the performances. We kindly ask that parents/guardians of our younger students encourage them to practice their lines so they can give a confident performance. We will always provide the children with enough time to learn their lines, before we ask them to be rehearsing without a script. Any problems with learning lines or not wanting to perform in the show should be brought to our attention as soon as possible. We can arrange other tasks for these children such as costume design, backstage help and more.

If your child is unable to attend our show date, it is important we are aware of this ASAP so we can make arrangements. All children taking part in our plays are required to commit to our classes for two terms.

Drop off and Collection

Please ensure your child arrives promptly so we can start the classes and rehearsals without delay.

If you will be late or unable to attend the class, please let us know as soon as possible via text, phone or email before the class.

If another person will be collecting or dropping your child off, please let us know in advance so we can make a note of this.

Healthy and Safety

Children will be made aware of fire exits and safety regulations in the space we hire. A risk assessment will be completed by us before using a space for our classes.
