Terms and Conditions

By
agreeing to the Southern Ballet Theatre Trust (“SBTT”) enrolment form you have completed, you are
deemed to have agreed and accepted these terms and conditions of enrolment
(“Terms”) and agree to waive and release Southern Ballet , their organisers,
contractors, employees and sponsors, from all claims of damage arising from
participation in classes and performances, including and without limitation to
personal injury, illness and death.
- Southern Ballet reserves the
right to change fees or timetable without prior notice. However, we will
endeavour to inform parents and carers of any changes as soon as possible.
- The school is closed on all public holidays
- Notify the school if your
student is unable to attend class via email or telephone.
- Arrival, departure and moving
between Carlyle Street and Hawdon Street studios: Students are to remain
in the buildings until collected; they are not to wait outside. We urge
that students are escorted to and from classes and between studios; this
especially applies to younger students. Students must be fully clothed in
street clothes along with appropriate footwear before exiting the premises
- Intellectual property,
exercises, combinations, and routines taught in class remain the property
of Southern Ballet. They cannot be taught or performed outside the studio
without permission.
- Lost property –Southern Ballet
does not accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.
Please make sure all uniform items are named. Any items found unnamed will
be placed in the lost property bins under the notice board at 108 Carlyle
Street.
- Physical contact may be
necessary when helping to demonstrate or correct a student. To realign
students' bodies and put them into the correct positions to improve their
technique.
- We do not accept liability for
personal injury or illness to any child attending class.
- No photos or videos may be
taken in class, or rehearsal without prior consent of the tutor.
- It is your responsibility to
ensure that we have the correct details for you and your child and to keep
us updated of any changes to contact details or health issues.
- We do not accept
responsibility for any loss or expense due to circumstances beyond our
control ie Transport, fire, weather conditions, power outages, or other
such situations.
- In the case of Covid 19 level
changes, or any other pandemic-related disruption, it is at the discretion
of SBTT to decide how to proceed with offering classes. If levels do not
allow physical classes, online classes will be offered. When classes are
able to resume, all relevant health and safety regulations will be adhered
to by staff and management. If a student makes a decision to not
participate, there will be no refund or transfer of classes offered.
- Zero tolerance for bullying.
- Do not enter a class while it is in progress.
Should you wish to speak to a tutor please leave a message at the office
for the tutor to contact you. If possible, avoid discussions between
classes as it disrupts the smooth running of the school timetable.
- Students to wait quietly outside the studio until
their class is ready to commence.
- In the event that we consider
you to be in breach of these terms & conditions or that your child is
disruptive to other students or staff, teachers or venue staff, we reserve
the right to exclude your child from any activity with Southern Ballet.
Fees
- Fees are inclusive of GST
- Fees are payable prior to
commencing classes each term unless you have an approved payment plan.
- Email [email protected] to request approval of a
payment plan prior to commencement of the term. Payments plans will
include a 5% fee on the total amount owing on your invoice at the
commencement of each term.
- Any fees outstanding at the
end of the dance school year, will be forwarded to a collection agency,
unless prior arrangement has been made with the office.
- Southern Ballet reserves the
right to change fees or timetable without prior notice. However, we will
endeavour to inform parents and carers of any changes as soon as possible.
- If Southern Ballet cancels a
class once a term has begun, Southern Ballet will credit the fees received
to your account (not bank account) less a proportionate cost for the
classes that have taken place during the Term prior to cancellation.
- If changing class/enrolment
(adding or deleting a class) you must contact [email protected] it is not your teacher's
responsibility to pass this information on.
- If you have not received an
invoice or your invoice is incorrect, it is your responsibility to let the
office know within the first two weeks of term.
Enrolment Cancellation
- If you wish to cease
tuition it is your responsibility
to inform the office by email to [email protected] one month prior to the start
of the following term. This ensures that any administrative and accounting
details may be finalized.
- If the office is informed of
your resignation less than one month prior to the start of the term ½ term
fee will apply; if advised after the start of the term the full term fee
is payable.
Uniform
- Uniform is compulsory
for all classes except our Adult classes.
- A correct and well-maintained uniform, plus the
correct hairstyle must be worn in class at all times. Southern Ballet
teachers reserve the right to ask students to replace any incorrect or
deteriorated items
- Sweatshirts or tee shirts must not be worn in
classical classes.
- Students are required to wear socks or tights.
- Ballet or jazz shoes are not to be worn outside
the studios as these ruins both the shoes and the studio floor.
- Students must be fully dressed in street clothes
when arriving and departing the Southern Ballet School – no practice gear
to be worn outside the studios.
Troupes and Companies
- Troupes and companies are by
audition or invite only.
- On acceptance troupe and
company members are required to complete a contract of commitment.
- Troupes and companies are often required for extra
weekend/holiday rehearsals or events.
Examinations
- To be eligible to sit
examinations students must meet the criteria of the examining body and
their tutor must be satisfied they have completed the required number of
hours and attained the required level for their grade.
- Correct Uniform must be worn
for the examinations.
- No pierced ears prior to
examinations, as earrings of any kind, are not permitted
- If Students choose to no longer
sit the exam and their exam fee has been paid. No refund will be
available.
- During the examination week,
there are no usual classes for the syllabus classes being examined. Extra
exam preparation classes may be scheduled.
- Examination School is
essential for the preparation of all examination students and is held in
the school holidays prior to the exam dates - these usually run for one
week with daily classes. The Jazz & Contemporary School will usually
run in the April school holidays and the BBO Ballet junior/ major school
runs in the September/October holidays. RAD dates are advised in the
school calendar. We ask that parents keep these dates in mind when making
holiday arrangements. There is an extra charge for examination schools.
Productions
- Attendance at show rehearsals
is compulsory if performing in a company
production or the end of year Gala production.
- During the production period,
studio rehearsals and theatre week, some classes will not operate and
communication will be sent out to dancers.
- A production costume hire fee
will apply. You will be charged a costume fee for each dance you are
performing in.
- Costumes are on HIRE, you must
return these at the end of the last performance evening.
- Costumes are NOT to go home at
all.
- In the event that we consider
you to be in breach of these terms & conditions or that your child is
disruptive to other students or staff, teachers or venue staff, we reserve
the right to exclude your child from any activity with Southern Ballet.
- Southern Ballet reserves the
right to amend or alter these terms and conditions at any time without
prior notice.
Outside Dance Instruction
- Classes and dance programmes
are carefully planned, requiring students to attend specific hours and
classes each week. We strongly advise against seeking outside training as
this can conflict with the planned programmes at Southern Ballet.
- Requests for outside dance
instruction can be submitted to the Artistic Director on approval of your
tutor.
Publicity
Photographs
or videos of students taken at Southern Ballet during classes, performances or
productions may be used for promotion of Southern Ballet including the photo
gallery on our website and social media.
Southern
Ballet Theatre Trust reserves the right to amend or alter these terms and conditions at any
time without prior notice.
