Registration
PLEASE NOTE: Classes are organised by age groups but occasionally some students are placed in classes according to their technical abilities. This decision is made by the Principal ONLY.
Attendance
At AFPA we take great pride in the professional standards and commitment levels of all our trained staff and students. Regular attendance is essential for the progression of individuals and flow of class structure. We ask pupils to be prompt for class and attend regularly. We ask parents/ carer/ adult student to inform the principal either by phone, text, email or Facebook if your child is unable to attend within 24 hours prior to class.
There are no exceptions on payment to all classes set by Standing order unless an unavoidable situation occurs i.e. severe illness, hospitalisation, injury. To sustain the students place the monthly payment may still be made (at the discretion of the Principal). If not, the child will lose their place at the Academy and may re-enrol at a later date if there is availability. If a child does not attend class for over 4 weeks of classes, and the principal is not informed, it will be understood that the child is no longer attending the Academy and their place will go to a child on the waiting list.
If a student’s commitment to another dance establishment starts to conflict with the AFPA, then parent/carer will have to make a decision of which to attend or asked to change to a more appropriate class at AFPA.
Late Arrivals
Students who are more than 10 minutes late for class will only be allowed to partake in the remainder of the class at the discretion of the teacher. If told that they are unable to partake due to being late, the fee for that class will not be reimbursed. Students who are late on a regular basis may be changed to another class that is at a more convenient time.
Dress Code & Streetwear Orders
For any AFPA Streetwear orders please email via the Adele Francesca Performance Academy [email protected], Class Manager portal (price list and sizes at main desk).
All students must wear the Adele Francesca Performance Academy T-shirt along with black, grey or white joggers/leggings to each class. No jeans/stretchy jeans/jeggings allowed. Academy clothing cannot be customised. Footwear must be supportive trainers or dance pumps only. Please make sure laces are tied in a bow and not tucked in. All hair must be tightly secured and away from the face. No external dancewear should be worn to AFPA classes. No jewellery, ONLY small studs and jewellery worn for religious or cultural purposes.
Dates & Events
It is the responsibility of the parent/carer or adult student to be aware of all school activities, extra classes and dates that school is open/ closed. THE ACADEMY IS OPEN TERM TIME ONLY. Please check for posts on social media, letters and texts to parent/carers and students. It is the parent/carer responsibility to check all of these avenues frequently to ensure they are well informed.
Cancelation Policy
AFPA reserves the right to cancel any class that fails to meet our minimum enrolment requirement. In the event of such a cancellation your child will be offered an alternative class place. If a suitable class place is not available, you will be refunded for any remaining classes paid for in that term. There are NO refunds or adjustments made for missed classes. Tuition is based on enrolment NOT attendance.
As a courtesy, if a teacher/substitute teacher cannot make a class due to unforeseen circumstances, then an extra class will be scheduled by the principal.
Child Protection & Health & Safety
AFPA is committed to protecting all of the young people in our care, therefore all staff will have an up to date DBS check and there will be a First Aid member of staff on duty. AFPA recognise that personal information is confidential, therefore, any unauthorised disclosures are a breach of contract and an offense under the Data Protection Act. All information held on computers and paper-based systems are managed appropriately (Please read and sign GDPR form).
If a child is feeling unwell or obtained an unexpected injury during class, staff will do their best to comfort and aid the child until parent/carer arrives. It is the responsibility of the teacher to contact the parent (via information provided on Class Manger). Arrangements will be made for parent to safely collect the student at reception.
Toilet Breaks
It is encouraged for students to attend and use the toilet independently; preferably before class begins, to save any interruption. We have a designated toilet for the students to use which is disinfected for our sole use and situated adjacent to the dance studio. During class time there are scheduled toilet and water breaks. Children are encouraged to go in measured groups to visit the toilet (students 7yrs or under will be chaperoned by an older student). The amount of toilet breaks depends on the age of the class – it is understood that younger students will perhaps need more breaks. Please be made aware that no other toilets in the building are allowed to be used by Adele Francesca Performance Academy students.
If your child needs the toilet during class time, they must abide by our easy-to-follow rules;
1. Ask AFPA member of staff to use the toilet.
2. After using the toilet, students must wash their hands with soap and water provided, then dry them.
3. Immediately return to the studio in order for training to commence.
Loitering in the toilets or in the corridors is prohibited and will be taken seriously if any students are found breaching this rule.
Substitute Teachers
Qualified Substitute Teachers/Assistant Teachers are used when AFPA instructors are ill, on vacation or have other professional commitments. Students are expected to come to class on a consistent basis even if their usual instructor is not present.
Dance Monitor
Children/Young students from classes above the age of 10 years, may be selected by a teacher to assist in a younger class via a rota system. This system will enable child/student helpers to receive work experience status to help shape and equip them with training, which can be added to their Curriculum Vitae in years to come. Though children may be of assistance to the teacher they are also used as performers for showcases. If a rehearsal class is set, then selected Dance Monitor’s are expected to also attend.
Classes set by Standing Order
Payment(s) are made by the 28th OF EVERY MONTH – JANUARY TO DECEMBER. If payment(s) is paid after the 28th of the month, then parent/carer will incur a £5 late fee charge and the child will not be allowed to attend class until payment is received. Payments are calculated by the number of weeks the studio is open, holidays are deducted and then final payment is set up via pro-rata system (term dates available on request).
Additional Payments
There may be additional fees throughout the year included, but not limited to, masterclasses, guest choreographers/ workshops, costumes, shoes, competition fees, convention fees, travel fees, dance clubs. If any of these arise during the course of the year, parents will be notified in advance.
