HOW WE WORK

We run ten week terms, usually with a two week half term. Our classes are taught with only students and teachers present therefore we have ‘watching week’ at the end of each term. This is an opportunity for parents/grandparents etc. to watch a class. We do ask that any photos taken at this time are used appropriately. 

At the end of each term, you will be sent a newsletter via email, giving dates for the following term and any dance school news. Invoices are sent via our online system, Class Manger, prior to the start of each term. This gives details of the individual student’s fees for the following term and any relevant class changes. Please ensure you have signed up to the Parent Portal to access information and updates on your child’s classes.

Preferred method of communication is via email. It is important that we have up to date contact details.

POLICIES

School Policies

Alexandra Dance Co. takes a ‘hands on’ approach to teachers correcting students. By agreeing to our terms and conditions you accept and understand that appropriate physical correction may be used within the dance class where necessary. Any person teaching for Alexandra Dance Co. is required to submit a valid Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Photo policy/consent 

By showing your consent on our registration form you are agreeing to our photo policy:

Photos and videos may be taken in class occasionally for instruction purposes or for updating the Alexandra Dance Co. website/social media. No names will be shown.

GDPR – General Data Protection Regulation

All personal information, including photos, is kept in line with Government guidelines. For further details please refer to the data protection policy on our website.

Fees

These are payable within the first two weeks of term. Payment can be made via Bacs or cash returned in class in a named envelope. All payment details are provided on the invoice. Discounts are available for multiple classes.

 

Notice 

Half term’s notice is required where possible or half term’s fee paid in lieu.

This enables us to plan the class timetables more efficiently.

 

Exams

Students aged 5 and over have the option to take exams in their chosen genre. Exams have an additional cost and extra ‘coaching’ sessions will be held on Weekends during term time. When choosing to take an exam you must be able to commit to the extra sessions, and a dress rehearsal usually held the weekend before exam date.

 

Behaviour

Bullying or Cyberbullying will not be tolerated within our school or social network pages under any circumstance. We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment and expect all students to conduct themselves in the correct manner at all times. If a situation arises, we will contact the parent to discuss any further action required.

Alexandra Dance Co. are not responsible for behaviour of students and their siblings outside of their class setting.

 

Shows

We produce shows about every two years, which are held at a local theatre. We encourage all students to take part, however this is not compulsory.

Winter Weather Policy

If the local schools close, lessons will be cancelled, and an email will be sent out to confirm. We will also update our website and social media pages as soon as possible. Classes will either be rearranged, or a credit will be added to your next invoice.

Second hand uniform We do have a supply of second hand uniform. Please email [email protected] for more information.

General grooming and wearing the correct uniform to class is important. We appreciate that in cold weather warm tops may be needed but vests or baggy tops worn for the duration of technical dance classes are not acceptable. Teachers need to be able to see the body alignment to check technique. If really needed, older pupils may wear a well-fitting plain black top. 

Hair should always be tied back with loose bits pinned. This is particularly important for ballet when hair should be in a bun where possible, to show the line of the upper back and neck. Loose hair affects the balance when turning and can whip the face.

Please name all of your child’s dancewear including shoes,and accessories.
