For the attention of all students, parents and guardians at DALES DANCE Ltd.

School Aims

Our school aims to ensure all students experience the performing arts in a fun, positive and safe space. We endeavour to create a supportive environment, free of judgement, that promotes physical and mental wellbeing and provides a creative outlet for all our students.

In order to achieve this, please take note of the following guidelines. Any student unable or unwilling to profit from the education provided by the school may be asked to withdraw from the school after reasonable notice.

Terms and Conditions

Registration

Registration must be completed prior to your/your child’s first class. All data is stored securely and in keeping with current GDPR guidelines using our administrative system Class Manager.

Taster Sessions

There exists a one-off, no commitment required, fee for all taster sessions. Payment must be settled prior to commencement of the session. Failure to do so may result in refusal of participation. We ask all ‘taster students’ to adhere to our student Code of Conduct for their session.

Payment of Term Fees

Dales Dance Ltd invoices its customers on a term-by-term basis or from their first session with the School. Invoices must be settled by the given deadline and in full. Failure to do so will result in added charges and eventually withdrawal from classes.

Late payments will incur a ‘Late Payment Fee’ calculated at 5% of the total amount owed to the School as dictated on the invoice. Please note this added charge is designed to cover the cost of the additional administrative work required to collect late payments.

Absence/Cancelled Classes

Refunds will not be given for non-attendance. Registration for any class we provide is a termly commitment and payment reserves your place for the current term (up to 14 weeks).

If a class is cancelled due to the sickness of the teacher, severe weather or any other seen or unforeseen event, the School will endeavour to reschedule the class or invite you to attend another class of an appropriate genre and level. Rescheduling of classes cannot be guaranteed. Classes may be rescheduled to take place online via ‘Zoom’ if an in-person lesson cannot be provided. No refunds will be given.

Payment in Instalments

We offer payment in instalments for those wishing to divide their termly fee into two half-termly payments. Please note this option is to make payment of the full term fees more manageable, the total amount for the term is still owed by the given deadline(s), regardless of attendance. If students are struggling to pay fees at any time, they are encouraged to contact the School’s principal.

Visual and Social Media

DALES DANCE Ltd reserves the right to publish or post any images (static or moving) of its students, across any of its online channels. Parents are able to opt-out of this policy on behalf of their child/children. In this case, please make this known to Miss Hannah. We ask that all parents, guardians and students ensure that they use social media and the internet in a safe and positive way. This includes the way in which the DALES DANCE Ltd is represented when posting, commenting and sharing content. Please report any concerns regarding this subject to the school Principal or teaching staff.

Student Code of Conduct

Professional Practise

DALES DANCE Ltd works to uphold and adhere to the Royal Academy of Dance Code of Conduct and Code of Professional Practise for teachers registered with the RAD. https://media.royalacademyofdance.org/media/2022/09/21175115/Code-of-Conduct-2021.pdf

Punctuality

It is vital that students arrive in good time for their classes. If students are late for class they may miss vital information and will impede the learning of others. They may place themselves at risk of injury should they miss the warm up section of the class.

Discipline

Students are expected to behave in an orderly, civilised and well-mannered way and to show respect to their teachers and fellow students when attending all classes. Failure to comply with these rules and regulations may result in withdrawal from the School.

Attendance

Regular attendance is extremely important. If students do not attend their lesson on a regular basis then the development of the class and the individual student will be affected. We ask parents to inform us of future absences at least 24 hours prior to the lesson whenever possible, so we can plan accordingly. Where classes are unable to be attended in person, students can live stream the lesson via Zoom. Please speak to the school Principal or teaching staff about availability of this option.

Uniform

Uniform is an extremely important aspect of dance classes. It encourages discipline and promotes safe learning. All students must come to classes dressed in correct dance attire as stated on our uniform list. Hair must be tied back and away from the face and all jewellery/watches must be removed (one pair of stud earrings is permitted).

Exams

Examinations at DALES DANCE Ltd are always optional. The opportunity to be entered for an examination is based solely on the School’s decision and no guarantees of entry can be provided. Exam students’ attendance will be monitored as they prepare for their examinations and assessments and students who fail to attend classes or show the required commitment both in and outside of the lesson may be withdrawn. Once a parent/guardian signs their child up for the examination session by written consent, they are liable for the exam fee as charged by the exam boards (RAD and ISTD). This fee is non-refundable except in circumstances where a medical note can be provided.

Performances

DALES DANCE Ltd is passionate about providing its students with performance opportunities throughout the school year. Students’ attendance will be monitored as they prepare for shows and productions and students who fail to attend classes and additional rehearsals may be withdrawn. We ask you to adhere to any specific performance guidelines provided for each event.
