Dance Edge School of Performing Arts

Terms and Conditions

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By enrolling in a class with the Dance Edge School of Performing Arts (trading as DESOPA Pty Ltd    ABN 63637230294), Parents/Guardians, and each of their enrolled children and students (as applicable):

a)       acknowledge that they have read and understand these Terms and Conditions and the Dance Edge Code of Conduct; and

b)      agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions and the Dance Edge Code of Conduct (or in the case of parents/guardians ensure that their enrolled children will so comply).

Dance Edge reserves the right to change the Terms and Conditions and the Code of Conduct at any time by notice published on its website at www.danceedge.com.au. Parents/guardians and their enrolled children (as applicable) agree that this will be sufficient notice to them of any changes and agree to comply with the Terms and Conditions and the Code of Conduct as amended from time to time.

Reference to ‘student(s)’ in these Terms and Conditions and the Code of Conduct is a reference to both adults and children who enrol in a class.

Enrolment Process

Enrolment is usually undertaken at the commencement of each calendar year and requires completion of online enrolments via each individual families parent portal where you’ll also find your statement for classes enrolled in.  New and continuing students must complete an enrolment form each year.  For administrative purposes, re‑enrolment is automatic for terms 2, 3 and 4, with fees invoiced prior to the commencement of each term. Dance Edge will accept enrolments throughout the year (except for term 4 where enrolments are closed). Fees are payable in full within the first 14 calendar days of the start of each term unless a payment plan has been agreed within this period.  Families who fail to pay fees within the first 2 weeks will incur a late fee for each week fees are not paid. Students whose term fees are outstanding, will not be re-enrolled for the following term, unless an existing payment plan is in place.

Annual Enrolment Fee

An annual $60 enrolment fee will be charged per family, for new and continuing students regardless of the term in which the student commences.  The enrolment fee covers studio incidentals (dancer insurance, music licence fees, consumables and administration fees).

Cessation of Class Enrolment

If a student is not returning for the next term, written notification must be provided to Dance Edge by email to welcome@danceedge.com.au.

Dance Edge reserves the right to terminate a student’s enrolment for a breach of these Terms and Conditions or Code of Conduct, by written notice to the student (or their parent/guardian).  The termination will take effect as specified in the notice.  In the case of such termination, Dance Edge reserves the right not to refund any payments received.

Uniform Requirements

All students are required to wear their Dance Edge class uniform to every class as described on the Dance Edge website (www.danceedge.com.au).  All uniform pieces are to be clean, neat, and presentable.

Female students are to refrain from wearing cross-over or racerback crop tops underneath their leotards.  Undergarments should not be visible.

Uniform pieces are available for purchase from Attitude Australia in Mitchell or Phillip.  More information on uniform and grooming guidelines, including pictures of each class’s uniform requirements, can be found at the Dance Edge website (www.danceedge.com.au)

Students must arrive and leave Dance Edge Studios with outside clothes covering their dance clothes.  Dance shoes are not to be worn outside the studio - eg. walking to and from the car. Street shoes are not permitted in the studios. If your child is enrolled in jazz funk, please ensure they arrive at the studio wearing a different pair of shoes.

Grooming

Students must ensure they are neatly groomed and presentable for each class.  Female students must have their hair in a neat bun, with all hair off their faces, for all dance styles.  Male students must ensure their hair does not cover their eyes.

Student Supervision

Drop off and Collection of Students

Whilst Dance Edge strives to provide a safe environment for students to undertake their scheduled classes, we are not responsible for extended supervision of students outside of their scheduled classes.  Students are to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to their class and are to be collected by a parent/guardian no later than 10 minutes after their class has ended.

For their own safety, students under the age of 10 are to be escorted to and from the Dance Edge studio by a parent or guardian.

All Dance Edge scheduled classes, rehearsals, and performances are appropriately supervised but students (or their parents/guardians on their behalf) acknowledge and agree that students participate at their own risk.  To the extent permitted by law, Dance Edge accepts no responsibility for injury or illness to students.

Injury Waiver

In the unfortunate event of serious injury to, or serious illness of, a student whilst the student is attending a scheduled class, rehearsal, or performance:

a)     a)  Dance Edge will attempt to contact a parent/guardian for instructions as soon as possible using the enrolment information,

b)      b) if a parent/guardian is not contactable within a reasonable period and, in the reasonable opinion of Dance Edge the circumstances require it, Dance Edge may call an ambulance or seek other medical assistance for the student.

Parents/Guardians and students acknowledge and agree that any ambulance or medical expenses are the responsibility of the parent/guardian/student, and not Dance Edge, and that Dance Edge will bear no liability (and take no responsibility) for any action it may or may not take in the circumstances

Dance Edge takes no responsibility for any students outside of their scheduled classes, or reasonable times before and after scheduled classes, as described above.  Parents/guardians should not leave siblings or other children unsupervised at the Dance Edge studio whilst a student is attending a scheduled class.

Dance Edge and its staff will not accept any responsibility for accident or personal injury due to personal negligence of students/parents/guardians.

Working with Vulnerable People - ACT

All Dance Edge faculty and teaching staff are required to hold an Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Working with Vulnerable People card.  The card requires those who work or volunteer with vulnerable people, to have a background check and be registered with the ACT Government.

Physical Contact Waiver

On occasion, physical contact with students may be necessary for teaching demonstration, student technique correction, and placement purposes.  Physical contact may also be necessary when fitting, sizing, and trying on costumes.  Parents/guardians/students agree to reasonable physical contact of Dance Edge staff with students for such purposes.

Any contact will always be conducted appropriately.  If you have any concerns regarding this matter, please speak directly with Dance Edge Director.

Personal Items

All personal belongings are the sole responsibility of their owners and Dance Edge is not responsible for damage, theft, or loss.  This includes but is not limited to, phones, iPads, laptops, jewellery, and clothing.

Please ensure all clothing is clearly labeled.

 Updating Records

Parents/guardians are responsible for updating their student’s records and their contact details via the Parent Portal. This is essential to ensure that Dance Edge family members are contactable in cases of an emergency/illness, advice on studio matters, and billing purposes.

Dance Edge is happy to include multiple email addresses per family into its database.  Parents/guardians/students should add Dance Edge’s email address to their contacts to ensure emails don’t end up in their ‘junk’ folder.

Communication

Dance Edge values communication and strives to ensure all Dance Edge families remain well-informed.  Dance Edge’s primary form of communication is via email and in our fortnightly newsletter.  Additional information may also be available on the Parent Portal.  Follow and ‘like’ Dance Edge’s Facebook page and Instagram posts, for updates on what Dance Edge is doing.

Out of respect for students who are waiting for their class to commence, parents and students should not approach staff between classes but rather, direct all inquiries to the Director.

The preferred approach is for parents to email welcome@danceedge.com.au.

Photography Waiver

From time to time, teachers or directors may take photographs or video footage of class activities or performances, which will be used for social media and advertising purposes.  All photographs and video footage are the property of Dance Edge.

Unless advised in writing of non-consent, enrolment in a class provides permission for Dance Edge to use these photographs and/or video footage of the student/s, for social media and advertising purposes.
