Fees
· All fees are payable by the due date, unless prior payment arrangement is made.
· If you have not paid your fees or attended class by week 3 of the term, your enrolment may be cancelled.
· All statutory holidays are observed, and fees have been calculated over the year. Where classes fall on public holidays, no make-up classes or refunds are given.
· No refunds are given for missed classes due to illness, overseas trips, school camps, family holidays or birthdays. Makeup classes may be offered when available.
· In some cases, fees may be refunded due to injury or prolonged sickness; medical certificates may be requested and there will be a $50 cancellation fee.
· Your enrolment will not be processed if you have an outstanding balance on your account from a previous term or year.
Class uniforms
• All students are required to wear Expressions Dance regulation uniform by the end of their first term. Students must wear their uniform to all lessons and rehearsals. Appropriate footwear must always be worn in studio.
• Hair is to be neatly groomed and secured off the face. No jewellery is to be worn to class, apart from small stud earrings.
Health & Safety
• Expressions Dance aims to provide a safe environment to reduce the risk of injury, and all teachers will actively promote safe dance practise. However, it is important that you understand and agree that in participating in any dance class, workshop, rehearsal or performance, there is a possibility of physical injury. Despite precautions being taken by the studio, accidents and injuries may occur.
• It is the student’s parents/guardian’s responsibility to notify their teacher in the event of injury / medical condition prior to the class. Please advise Expressions Dance of any health problems your child may experience, e.g. asthma.
• All students and teaching staff must not attend class if feeling unwell.
• A first aid kit is kept on the premises in Studio 2 and is available for any student to use under the direction of a teacher. In case of physical injury or medical emergency, teachers or staff members will conduct first aid. Parents will be notified of accidents in more serious cases and emergency services called.
• Expressions Dance students are under supervision whilst in class time only. Teachers and staff will not be responsible for students outside their allocated class time, and children in waiting areas must be supervised at all times.
• For safety reasons, students must be collected from inside the Te Tuhi building. It is the responsibility of the parent / guardian to ensure their child / ren do not wait outside the building.
• In the case of Government restrictions, Expressions Dance will provide online classes until it is safe to return to the studio. Refunds / deductions for online classes will be at the discretion of Expressions Dance.
Class Attendance
• Regular class attendance is vital for students to develop and keep up to date with their syllabus work. Students must be punctual to class to ensure they receive a complete warm up.
• We encourage students to bring a water bottle to class. No food is permitted in the studio.
• Parents of preschool aged children are invited to help their dancer settle into class and watch classes at designated times. Parents / guardians of older students may stay and observe under special circumstances when it has been prearranged and mutually agreed with the dance teacher.
• Photography and videoing of students during class is not permitted, this is for the safety and wellbeing of each student.
• It is student’s / parent’s sole responsibility to safeguard personal property while attending or participating in any classes, rehearsals, workshops or performances. Expressions Dance including all teachers, dancers, staff members and facilities used is released from all liability for loss or damage to personal property.
Photography & Video Policies
• Images or video footage of students taken by Expressions Dance may be used for marketing and website purposes and remains the sole property of Expressions Dance. Expressions Dance reserves the right to use photographs and videos taken during classes, workshops, performances, or other affiliated events for the purposes of instruction, advertising and promoting Expressions Dance and its programs. Students, or parents of students, who do not wish to comply with this policy must notify Expressions Dance in writing.
• Photos / videos throughout the year may be added to Expressions Dance social media. Please make Expressions Dance aware in writing if you or your child does not wish to be included in photos / videos.
• Any footage of any choreography taken by a parent / caregiver or student remains the property of Expressions Dance.
Examinations
• Students aged 5 years upwards will be entered into examinations strictly at the discretion of the teacher.
• Examination fees and exam class fees are additional to term fees and are non-refundable.
• Expressions Dance regulation uniform and suitable footwear is compulsory for examinations.
• Students will need to attend additional exam classes and practice outside of studio time to meet high exam standards.
Annual Performance & Costumes
• All students enrolled at Expressions Dance, are invited to dance in the annual performance which takes place in late November or early December.
• Each student that participates in the annual performance is required to attend extra rehearsals and all performances they are allocated to perform in.
• All recording at the annual performance is prohibited due to copyright and privacy laws. The annual performance is recorded professionally; photographs and show footage will be available for purchase.
• Tickets to the annual performance are an additional cost. You will be notified by Expressions Dance when tickets become available.
• A show costume fee will be included in your Term 4 invoice. This fee is incurred per dance that the student participates in but is capped at a certain level. This fee is a contribution towards sewing, purchasing, laundering, hiring, storage and handling of costumes; please note you do not get to keep your show costume.
Choreography and Music
• Expressions Dance is licensed with APRA for the use of music for teaching and performance purposes.
• Choreography for classes, competitions, and performances remains the sole property of Expressions Dance. Choreography must not be copied or used without prior permission from Expressions Dance.
Concerns or Complaints

Privacy Act
• To ensure we have all relevant details about our students, we will collect and keep information about you from time to time. This information includes the information you provide on your enrolment form and updates you may provide us with.
• Under the Privacy Act 1993 you are entitled to have access to, and request correction of this information.
