Terms and Conditions / Code of Conduct
Please read thoroughly
By booking a place in a JMDA class you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions and
Code of Conduct as follows:

Fees and Payments

1. Fees are currently paid monthly, on a payment plan basis. We calculate annual fees based on the amount of teaching weeks in the year and divide it by 10 monthly payments - 1 September - 1 June. This will be pro-rata’d where necessary.

2. Fees are collected automatically by Debit/Credit via Stripe . When you enrol in classes you will be sent a payment request link. Please save your payment details and we will generate your instalments to automatically be paid on the 1st of the Month

3. Each instalment of your monthly payment plan will be collected on the 1st of each month. You must pay your monthly payments on time.

4. All fees are non-refundable in all circumstances and cannot be deducted or refunded in the case of student absence. In the event of a session being cancelled due to conditions outwith our control, fees will be non-refundable.

5. Fees are subject to change on a yearly basis.

6. Non-payment of fees will result in a student being refused entry to class.

In Class | Uniform

1. All students must wear the appropriate uniform for their class.

3. Uniform orders can be placed via the online store only – no uniform orders will be accepted during class time.

4. If you have any queries regarding sizing etc please email [email protected]

5. All students must wear the appropriate footwear for their class – trainers, jazz shoes, ballet shoes etc.

6. All students must have their hair tied back for class and no jewellery for health and safety reasons.

7. Students should not bring any ‘loose’ items to class – everything that a student brings to class (water bottle, dance shoes, mobile phone etc) must be in a bag.

8.Please do not bring valuables to class. JMDA do not accept any liability for lost or damaged belongings. Any belongings should have student’s name clearly marked.

9. Please ensure each student brings their own water bottle with enough water for their class and a small towel – snacks are not necessary unless a student is attending back to back classes.

10. JMDA is a nut free zone.

11. Mobile phones are not to be used during class at any time and must be on silent.

12. No photographs or videos should be taken by students during class.

13.From time to time, it will be essential for physical contact to take place between the teacher and student/peers. We encourage safe practice at all times and support students in doing so.

14.Any medical conditions must be disclosed upon registration, and the responsibility falls on you, the parent/guardian, to update us when necessary thereafter. It is imperative that we are always fully aware of any health implications, for the student’s safety and your own peace of mind.

Behaviour

1.Unruly, disruptive behaviour in class will not be tolerated. If we feel that any student is being disruptive in class, we will issue a verbal warning. If this continues, we will speak to parents about the matter.

2.We have a strict anti-bullying policy in place and expect our students to adhere to this at all times.

3.Our staff will not tolerate abusive or disruptive behaviour from students or parents. We will treat everyone with respect and appreciate the same in return. If a child/parent displays consistent unruly or aggressive behaviour, this could result in termination of class membership.

Drop off / Pick Up

1. A staff member will facilitate pick up and drop off at the main studio door downstairs for the younger classes. Older students may enter the space.

2. Parents must not leave students until they are sure the student has made it safely into the studio space.

3. Do not send any student to class if they are unwell.

4. To ensure a swift drop off and pick up between classes, please do not be late.

5. Please do not park in/use the JMDA car park – this is for staff of the businesses within the building only – please avail of the public car parks in Ballyclare.

6. We ask that if you have any general enquiries that are not pressing, that you contact us to discuss via email ([email protected]) and not before or after class if possible. We are aiming to make pick up and drop off as swift as possible so as not to disrupt class time.

7. If for any reason JMDA has to close for example as like what happened with Covid19, we will aim to bring all classes online immediately – no refunds will be issued under any circumstances.

Summer Show

1.Any student wishing to take part in our summer show performances will be required to pay a show fee (June 2025 £30 - subject to annual increase)

2.All show money paid is non-refundable.

3.Our annual summer performance will be recorded and photographed professionally. Personal cameras and recording equipment are not permitted.

4.All events are optional at JMDA, therefore show participation is not compulsory and does not affect a student’s learning journey in class.

Examinations

1.We currently offer dance and musical theatre examinations with the RAD and I-PATH as well as Acrodance examinations with Acrobatic Arts - students will only be put forward when a teacher deems them ready and that decision lies solely with the teacher and is final.

2.Examinations are not compulsory at JMDA.

3.We encourage parents/guardians to remember that all students learn at a different pace but also that not everyone enjoys or is suitable for examinations . We want examinations to be a positive experience for everyone involved - learning the syllabus work in class and the wealth of benefits that brings means so much more than the actual taking of the examination itself

4.There is a cost incurred with examinations including entry fees and extra rehearsals if necessary.

Communication

JMDA communication is made via email and social media as well as our phone number 07706258565.

Please ensure you follow our social media platforms for updates and continue to check spam/junk email folders. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to keep up to date with all relevant information regarding a student. We will also post reminders in our closed Facebook group - please request to join.
