Kent Academy of Musical Theatre (KAMT)
Terms and Conditions
For the purposes of this document, Kent Academy of Musical Theatre shall be referred to as KAMT.
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before ticking the enrolment box and enrolling yourself or your student. By enrolling, you agree to be bound by the following terms.
1. JOINING KAMT
A profile must be completed on Class Manager (CM).
A. Any medical condition must be disclosed on CM at registration and updated whenever necessary.
B. Any learning difficulties must be disclosed on CM so that appropriate support can be provided.
C. KAMT communicates primarily via email and WhatsApp. It is your responsibility to ensure contact details are kept up to date.
D. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions on CM, you consent to receive invoices, newsletters, timetables, and general communications from KAMT.
E. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you consent to your data being stored electronically, in a contacts file, and as a paper copy in a secure location.
F. Attendance at any other dance or performance school must be disclosed to the Principal upon registration.
2. KAMT FEES
A. A KAMT term runs for approximately 12 weeks.
B. Full payment for each term is required within two weeks of invoices being issued. All invoices include a payment deadline.
C. Invoices for additional classes, events, or workshops must be paid within 7 days of issue.
D. Payments received 1–7 days after the deadline will incur a 5% late fee, which will continue to be added weekly until paid. Students will not be permitted to attend classes until outstanding fees are settled.
E. A 5% discount is offered for siblings attending or for students taking three or more classes.
F. If you have not received an invoice by one week before the first class of term, it is your responsibility to contact KAMT. Deadlines still apply.
G. Invoices must be checked carefully. KAMT reserves the right to backdate invoices for corrections.
H. Changes to classes or invoices must be made by the deadline set by the Principal. Changes after this date will incur a £3.50 admin fee.
I. Please retain proof of payment. KAMT records are final where no customer proof is available.
J. Students may be suspended from classes if fees remain unpaid, at the discretion of the Principal.
3. PRIVATE SESSIONS (ACTING & DANCE) AND ONE-OFF SINGING LESSONS
(Excludes Saturday morning singing lessons – see Section 4)
Sessions must be paid for at least 7 days before the first session.
Student cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full.
Cancellations with more than 24 hours’ notice are not refundable but may be rearranged at the teacher’s discretion.
If KAMT cancels a session, a full refund will be issued.
After two cancellations of a booked block by the student, no further refunds will be issued.
4. ONE-TO-ONE SINGING LESSONS (SATURDAY MORNINGS/WEDNESDAY EVENINGS)
Lessons are booked in blocks of three and must be paid for in advance.
A minimum of three weeks’ notice is required to stop lessons, meaning students commit to at least six weeks.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full.
Cancellations made with 24 hours’ notice or more are not refundable, but may be rescheduled at the teacher’s discretion. Any rescheduled lesson must be taken within 8 days.
If you are unable to attend the new date offered by the teacher, the lesson will be forfeited and no refund will be given.
If the teacher cancels, a replacement lesson will be offered.
Missed lessons without notice are charged and not rescheduled.
Lessons run for the agreed time only; late arrival does not extend lesson time.
Fees are subject to review, with notice given of any changes.
Disruptive behaviour may result in the lesson being stopped with no refund.
Students must inform teachers of any relevant medical or vocal health issues.
Personal information will be kept confidential and used only for administration.
Holidays and Absence in Advance (Saturday Morning Singing Lessons)
If a student knows in advance that they will be on holiday or unavailable, this must be communicated at least 6 weeks before the affected lesson(s).
When 6 weeks’ notice is given, the cancelled lesson will be cancelled at no extra cost and the student will continue with their usual slot as normal.
If less than 6 weeks’ notice is given, the lesson will be charged as normal and is not guaranteed to be rescheduled; If no suitable alternative date can be agreed, the lesson will be forfeited and no refund will be given.
A. Excellent attendance is expected. Absences must be reported to the Principal by email with a valid reason.
B. Three consecutive weeks of absence will result in an attendance letter.
C. Poor attendance may affect participation in productions.
6. LEAVING KAMT
A. Written notice by email is required to leave KAMT.
B. No refunds are given once a term has started.
C. A full refund (minus £3.50 admin fee) is available if notice is given at least two weeks before the end of the previous term.
D. A 75% refund is available if notice is given within the final two weeks of the previous term.
E. If notice is not given before invoices are issued, a £3.50 admin fee will apply to any changes or cancellations.
7. CANCELLATIONS
A. No refunds for missed group classes due to illness, holidays, or personal reasons.
B. No refunds for cancellations due to “acts of God” (e.g. bad weather).
C. Classes with fewer than 10 students may be cancelled at the Principal’s discretion; full refunds will be issued.
D. If classes are cancelled due to staff issues, the cost will be deducted from the next term’s fees.
8. PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO
A. Parents/ Adult students are given the option on their registration forms to indicate whether they grant permission for photography and videography; this is for the classroom only. By agreeing to these terms, you consent to photos and videos being taken for promotional use unless you have selected “No” on the CM consent form.
B. However, if a student takes part in a show or performance, this will automatically be considered as granting permission for the Principal to arrange photography or videography. Any images or recordings taken during shows or performances may be used for promotional purposes.
9. PRODUCTIONS
A. Productions are not guaranteed each year until officially confirmed.
B. Auditions are held for principal roles. Casting decisions are final.
C. Rude or inappropriate behaviour regarding casting will result in immediate removal with no refund.
10. GENERAL. Uniform
All students must wear a KAMT T-shirt and plain black joggers or leggings to every class.
All clothing and shoes must be clearly labelled. Lost property is donated to charity at the end of each term.
No jewellery is permitted; hair must be tied back neatly for all classes.
Required class uniform:
KAMT T-shirt
Plain black leggings or tracksuit bottoms
Black plimsolls or black jazz shoes
Not permitted in class:
Jeans
Trainers
Crocs or sandals
Skirts or dresses
Hoodies or sweaters must be plain black or KAMT-branded.
Show and performance requirements:
Adult choir students must provide a black velvet outfit for shows.
Adult dance students must purchase a black leotard and character shoes for shows (available via Class Manager).
All students must provide plain black trainers and/or black jazz shoes or dance sneakers as directed.
B. Administration
KAMT may change timetable, venues and fees with reasonable notice.
No refunds except where stated.

Poor behaviour, bullying, or abuse may result in removal without refund.
C. Other
Teacher changes may occur.
Permission is required before students perform elsewhere (excluding school shows).
Physical contact is sometimes necessary for training.
KAMT’s name may not be used without written permission.
Staff may not transport under-18s without written parental consent.
Under 11s must be collected by an adult.
Parents must not interrupt classes.
11. LIABILITIES
A. KAMT is not responsible for errors on registration forms.
B. KAMT is not liable for injury unless due to negligence.
C. No responsibility for lost or damaged property.
D. No liability for events beyond KAMT’s control.
E. Students are only supervised during class time.
F. KAMT holds Public Liability Insurance.
G. All users must follow third-party venue rules.
12. SOCIAL MEDIA
A. Families should not use private groups to discuss KAMT matters.
B. Only photos of your own child may be shared unless approved.
C. Students and families should not connect with staff on social media unless previously known.
