Terms and Conditions
For the purpose of this document Kent Academy of Musical Theatre shall be referred to as: KAMT.
Please take your time to read the following Terms & Conditions. It is very
important that you understand these Terms & Conditions before you tick the
read box and enroll yourself or your student:
1. JOINING KAMT
A profile must be completed on class manager (CM)
A. Any medical condition must be disclosed to
the Academy upon registration via CM and thereafter.
B. It is important that any learning difficulties are disclosed via CM in order
for us to provide support and nurture the student.
C. The method of communication by KAMT is via email and whatsapp. It is
therefore essential that all email addresses and mobile numbers are kept up to
date and where possible
D. By signing these terms and conditions on CM you are agreeing to receive
invoices, newsletters, timetables and general emails from KAMT
E. By signing these terms and conditions you are agreeing for your data to be
held on an electronic database, in a contacts file and a paper copy in a secure
location.
F. Attendance of any other similar dance/performance school must be disclosed
to the Principal upon registration.
2. KAMT FEES
A. A KAMT term runs for approx 12 weeks.
B. Full payment of fees for
the forthcoming term is required within two weeks of invoices being sent out. All invoices have a deadline on them.
C. Invoices for any other classes, events, workshops etc must be paid within 7 days. All invoices have a deadline on them
D. Payment received 1 to 7 days after the first class will incur a 5% late fee, and will be added weekly
E. A 5% discount is given to students who have one or more siblings attending classes or for those students who take three or more classes
F. If you do not receive an invoice by a week before the first class of each term, it is your responsibility to contact us to obtain a copy of your invoice. The deadline may therefore be shorter. Please ensure you check the deadline date on the invoice.
H. Your Invoice must be checked by you for any errors. We reserve the right to backdate invoices for corrections.
I. Any change to classes or invoices must be given in a timely manner. The principal will inform all students by whatsapp communication of the deadline for this to take place. Any changes after this date, will incur a £3 admin charge.
J. Please retain all payment receipts as records are not proof of payment for classes. Where there is a dispute, if the customer cannot provide proof of payment, they must accept KAMTs records
K. Your student will be prevented from taking their lessons if fees continue to remain unpaid; this decision will be made at the discretion of KAMTs principal.
3. PRIVATE SESSIONS/ONE TO ONE/ONE TO TWO; FEES AND CANCELLATIONS
one to ones/one to twos/private sessions can be
booked at once a week for 6 weeks or once a fortnight for 6 weeks.
A. All sessions must be paid for 7 days before the first session.
B. When cancelling future one-to one/private sessions, you will be credited if you give us 48 hours or more notice. Less than 48 hours, fees will not be refunded
C. If we cancel the session, you will be refunded in full for the cancelled session
D. After the 3rd cancellation of any session or
private class by yourself, no further issues will be refunded.
4. ATTENDANCE
A. Each student attending lessons at KAMT must show excellent attendance. The
principal must be notified of an absence via email, with good reason. Failure
to do so may lead to the student being unable to be entered into examinations
and take part in productions. If your student misses three weeks in a row you
will receive and attendance letter.
5. LEAVING KAMT
A. If you or your student wishes to leave KAMT then we will require written notice via email.
B. You will not be entitled to any refund if you leave KAMT once the term has started.
C. You will be entitled to a full refund, once payment has been made if you inform us within two weeks before the end of the previous term, of the one you are about to start. However, a £3 admin fee will occur to cover bank charges for refunds.
D. You will be entitled to a 75% refund, once payment has been made if you inform us with only two weeks or less towards the end of the previous term, of the one you are about to start.
E. If you have not informed us before invoices have been sent out, then a £3 admin fee of your invoice will be applicable when you leave or make a change to the class. A reminder email or whatsapp will always be given regarding the date to make changes to classes or cancellations.
6. CANCELLATION
A. Should your student wish to cancel one of
their one to one classes (LAMDA or private singing) we require written notice
(email acceptable). Notice given within 12 hours will be refunded or the class
can be moved. Any notice given within 12 hours of the class, you will not be
entitled to a refund or class move.
B. We do not give refunds of any group classes that your student has missed due
to illness, accidents or holidays.
C. If lessons are cancelled by the Academy due to an act of God i.e. Bad
weather, then no refund will be given.
D. Any classes that fall under 10 students in total may be cancelled. This will
be at the Principal’s discretion. Full refunds will be given where payment has
been made.
E. If lessons are cancelled due to staff issues; the class cost will be deducted off the next termly fee.
7. USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS &
VIDEOS
A. Videos and photos may be taken during class times, competitions and
performances (and any other KAMT led activities) and by signing these terms and
conditions you are agreeing to the use of your student’s image for promotional
and marketing use, this includes all platforms of social media and KAMTs website
8. EXAMINATIONS
A. Examinations are not compulsory but if undertaken require additional fee for
exam, the travel costs and additional fee for the extra coaching classes that
will be arranged.
9. PRODUCTIONS – IMPORTANT
KAMTS main two shows will take place in December and May.
December: All students of KAMT will be invited to take part in an annual showcase.
May: All MTA senior and Junior will be taking part in the annual musical.
Various other shows will take place throughout the year; dates and times will be given to parents will in advance.
A. Participation in the JUNIOR OR SENIOR musical in May is compulsory FOR EVERY STUDENT IN BOTH CLASS, except where student’s individual circumstances are such that participation would be detrimental to them. You are required to contact KAMT immediately if there is an issue with your student performing prior to enrolment in January. Each case will be considered by the Principal and will be at her discretion.
B. Productions are not guaranteed to be every year until the official show pack has been issued with dates and the venue confirmed.
C. For all KAMT Productions, we hold auditions for Principal singing /dancing roles and additional numbers. It is by the discretion of the Principal, who is cast in these roles and the principal will not tolerate any poor or rude behaviour about the casting. If this takes place, then the students in MTA will be removed immediately. No refund will be given.
D: Page to Stage adult class will have performance every 12 weeks and it is vital that students of this class commit fully to each week to enable high standards of shows
E. Show choir will work towards the December showcase, as well as various shows and performances throughout the year. Students of the show choir will be given a choice to take part in the performances, but if the numbers drop too low, that would affect the performance, then the whole show would be cancelled at the discretion of the principal.
10. GENERAL
A.UNFORM: This is basic but
essential and gives the students a sense of belonging, a sense of ritual and
sense of dressing for something important – their class. Appropriate clothing
as below is necessary for health and safety and student protection:
Students must not wear their school uniform to any class – Kent Academy of Musical Theatre is not a school and wearing the correct Kent Academy of Musical Theatre clothing gives a sense of belonging, allowing all to feel equal, healthy and safe.
· All t-shirts, shoes and bags must be clearly labelled – lost property is donated to charity at the end of every term.
· Strictly no jewellery – no earrings (earrings are very unsafe during physical activity).
· Hair must be tied back from the face for all classes and neatly groomed.
· SECOND-HAND SHOES and CLOTHING for sale: there is often a good
selection of second-hand clothing and shoes which can be bought from the
principal at a greatly reduced rate including tap, ballet and jazz shoes.
DONATIONS OF DANCE CLOTHING: We welcome donations of dancewear that are in good
condition and can be re-sold at a small price or lent to students.
All Kent Academy of Musical Theatre studentren’s classes:
· Top: Kent Academy of Musical Theatre T-shirt must be worn by all students.
· Bottom: plain black tracksuit bottoms or leggings must be worn. No jeans, trousers, skirts or dresses are to be worn to any class. Spares will be given out if your student attends in the wrong bottoms.
· Shoes: Black soft plimsolls (like those worn for school gym lessons) or black jazz shoes are to be worn. Strictly no trainers, crocs or sandals are allowed.
· Hoodies/Sweaters: Must be plain black or a KAMT one which can be ordered at the start of any new term
When attending events, displays and external shows the compulsory t-shirt must be worn without fail and hair and makeup must be appropriate to the Principals desire.
B. KAMT reserves the right to alter the timetable, change venue, and fees. Where applicable, we will try to give you reasonable notice.
C. KAMT operates a NO REFUND policy unless stated above in section 4
D. The school may from time to time introduce regulations for the better running of the school. All students enrolled at the school and attending classes shall be expected to adhere strictly to any and all such regulations and duly accept any revised terms and conditions. E. Necessary discipline will be enforced and the Principal reserves the right to terminate any student’s enrolment without notice or refund. We expect all studentren and parents to respect one another, our members of staff and volunteers. Bullying or abusive language or behaviour will not be tolerated and may lead to your student being removed from the academy. In this circumstance, no refund will be given. One warning will always be given unless it is an exceptional circumstance which will be decided upon by the discretion of the principal.
F. There may be a change of teacher at any point during the term. Either to cover the regular teacher in times of illness, holiday or personal reasons or at times, to replace the previous teacher altogether.
G. Any student who is approached or volunteers to participate in any other stage performance with any other company or society (with the exception of normal school productions during term time) must obtain permission from the Principal prior to any agreement being made to take part. A student joining KAMT first, will be expected to prioritise shows and dates with KAMT.
H. It is essential for the efficient training and teaching of Performing Arts and Musical Theatre for a degree of physical contact to take place. On signing the registration form the customer accepts this provision for themselves or their student.
I. On no account can KAMTs name be used in any form of publicity without written approval from the Principal.
J. Our staff are not permitted to give students under the age of 18 years a lift in their car unless written permission has been given by their parent/guardian and has been arranged prior to the lift required. (Please see/request our Student Protection and Safeguarding Policy if you would like to do so).
K. Students under 11 years old are not allowed to leave any of our venues unless accompanied by an adult.
L. No classes (including private lessons) or teachers are to be disturbed unless it is an emergency. Parents are not to approach teachers or students during class. If messages or food/drink/medication needs to be passed on to a student, it must be done through a KAMT staff member. All parents must wait in the waiting areas or outside of the studios until classes have been dismissed.
11. KAMT Liabilities
A. KAMT do not accept responsibility for loss, damage or injury arising from
errors or omissions on the registration form whether completed by you or the
person in charge of your student at the time of enrolment.
B. KAMT do not accept liability for death or personal injury to any student attending class, with the exception of such injury being caused by negligence or default of any member of our staff or any other default on our part.
C. KAMT do not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.
D. KAMT do not accept responsibility for any loss or expense due to circumstances beyond our control including, transport, fire, weather and other such actions.
E. KAMT are only responsible for students whilst they are participating in their class. Studentren cannot be supervised whilst they are outside the class space, this includes the reception areas, corridors, toilets and outdoors.
F. KAMT holds Public Liability Insurance.
G. KAMT hires premises from Third Parties; all KAMT Staff, Parents, Guardians and students must abide by the codes of conduct as set out by those Third Parties.
12. TALENT4KIDZ CASTING AGENCY
Kent Academy of Musical theatre is very proud of its partnership with T4K. It is important to make you aware of the way this partnership will work
A. An agent from Talent4Kidz will attend the shows in December and May.
B. An agent from Talent4Kidz may attend auditions in September and January if they wish.
C. An agent from Talent4Kidz may attend any other performances throughout the year in if they wish.
D. No charge/fee will be needed for a student to join Talent4Kidz but any student seeking agency work must be a member of ‘Spotlight’ and this membership does occur an annual charge of £103 (subject to change). If your student is talent spotted during KAMTs shows, auditions or classes, they will be unable to be on the casting agency’s books without Spotlight membership
E. Any Kent Academy of Musical Theatre student spotted by Talent4Kidz will be invited to the next stage of an interview with Talent4Kidz
F. Any Kent Academy of Musical Theatre student signed by Talent4Kidz will be announced on both websites with a link to the other company
G. Any headshot taken by Kent Academy of Musical Theatre resident photographer will be allowed to be used for Talent4Kidz and there will be no expectation for more photos to be taken at any extra cost
H. Any student that has been signed to talent 4kidz from Kent Academy of Musical Theatre that fits the bill of a brief given/sent to Talent4Kidz will be put forward for casting
I. A 25% charge will be taken from the BSF B/O and Recall by Talent4Kidz.
J. It is understood that no money is received by the performer, unless they are cast; all travel and daily incurrences will be paid for by the performer.
13. SOCIAL MEDIA
A. Families found to be engaging in ‘hidden’ or ‘private’ groups formed for the specific purpose of discussing studio matters will be encouraged to join our closed Facebook group for public discussion and warned against discussing Studio matters in their private online groups.
B. No class or performance footage may be placed on any social media; photos of your own student only is accepted unless you have had prior consent from the principal.
C. Students and Family members are discouraged to be ‘friends’ or followers’ with any members of staff unless already having a previous relationship
14. COVID 19
In the case that Covid 19 is still relevant, it is of high importance to keep staff and student safe at all times
If the student has signs of covid, we ask you consider others around you and do not attend class. Refunds will not be given but we do have staff who are high risk. Please be considerate.
