Student Code of Conduct
LCDA requests that all students and parents/carers read and agree to abide by this code of conduct:
Unless notified in writing, LCDA assumes that all parents/carers accept that photographs/videos may be taken by other parents/carers during watching week and any performances, and give permission for LCDA to take photos/videos during class for promotional purposes on the LCDA website, Leaflets, Banners, Posters and Social media platforms.
Health and Safety Policy
The health and safety of all students is very important at
LCDA. We endeavor to make the Dance Academy a safe and healthy place for
children, parents/carers, and staff. LCDA aims to make all who attend aware of
health and safety issues and to minimize the hazards and risks to enable
children/adults to dance in a healthy and safe environment.
The Principal, Lisa Connell, is responsible for health and safety at LCDA
and she competently oversees the following:
Risk Assessment
LCDA’s risk assessment includes:
Insurance
Cover
LCDA has public liability insurance—a copy of the certificate is
available on request.
Child Protection
Students are made aware of health and safety priorities throughout their
dance practice. Only persons who have been checked by DBS (Disclosure and
Barring Service) teach at LCDA, and a copy of staff disclosure forms is
available on request. All children are supervised by an adult during class
time. However, LCDA cannot accept responsibility for children outside of their
registered class time or for any other children on the premises.
Fire Safety
Parents/carers are asked to make themselves aware of and abide by the fire and
emergency evacuation procedure displayed in The Ludwick Family Club, Hallgrove,
WGC.
First Aid
Teachers are first aid qualified, and their certificates are available on
request. LCDA has a first aid kit available at every class, which is regularly
checked and restocked as necessary.
LCDA will administer hypoallergenic plasters if the need arises. Parents/carers
who are aware of an allergy to this type of plaster should advise LCDA when
completing the ‘Registration/Parental Consent Form.
Please inform Miss Lisa of any changes to or the onset of
any medical condition that may affect your child whilst dancing. Additionally,
any changes to contact details for you/your child, particularly emergency
contacts and/or mobile phone numbers, should be notified immediately to Miss
Lisa.
LCDA has an accident book where any accidents are recorded.
If a child becomes ill during a class, LCDA will request that the parent/carer
takes their child home. In the absence of the parent/carer, the child will be
taken aside in the class, made as comfortable as possible, and closely
monitored until the parent/carer arrives.
Teaching Practice
From time to time, it is necessary for the teachers to use physical contact,
referred to as ‘The Hands-on Approach,’ to correctly instruct the pupil and aid
understanding of correct body placement. Please inform Miss Lisa if you have
any concerns about this approach being used in your/your child’s class.
Music License
LCDA holds a PPL and PRS license to play music, available on request.
Health and Safety Policy: COVID-19
Now that COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, classes can resume as they
were before. However, be assured that Miss Lisa will still clean the Ballet
Barres between each class. Every student aged 5 years and older is now
requested to bring their own bottle of hand sanitizer to each lesson to use
before and after class, which helps save queuing time and ensures we keep as
safe as possible.
Stay at Home if…
If you, your child, or anyone in your household has suspected or confirmed
coronavirus or flu-like symptoms such as a persistent cough, high temperature,
or difficulty in breathing, please stay at home. In this case, do not come to
class, keep safe, and seek medical advice. Even if you believe you may have
been in contact with someone showing symptoms, please do not attend class. More
guidance on coronavirus can be found at https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus.
