Sickness and Illness Policy.

We follow a similar sickness and illness policy as nurseries and schools. It is the parent/carer’s responsibility to ensure that their child is not ill when brought to LDA. Parent/carers should inform LDA as soon as possible of their child's absence. In the case of a child becoming ill at LDA, staff will inform parents/carers as soon as possible and will be requested to collect their child. This is for the well being of other children and staff on the premises and to safeguard the spread of infection. We ask that you keep your child off if they are experiencing the following:

LDA CIC Safe Touch Policy
Teaching dance is a physical activity and appropriate physical contact between students

and teachers in class is essential to training.

Teachers can make physical contact with a student to illustrate a concept or to adjust a student’s alignment (especially with the younger students). We recognise that such physical contact is a potentially complex area and we also fully recognise our responsibilities for safeguarding students and teachers and for protecting their welfare. The following principles and procedures are in place to fulfil our obligations:

  1. Contact by the teacher is made with particular awareness to the needs of each individual/to assist the student in correcting placement.

  2. All teachers will treat any physical contact with due sensitivity and care and with due regard for the wishes of the student.

  3. Contact will not involve force or the use of any instrument.

  1. Teachers will be mindful of location and avoid situations where they are isolated with a student – all classes should be held in studios and performance areas with windows.

  2. Students should be encouraged to discuss any worries with any member of staff.

  3. Both students and teachers should feel free to report any concerns to Annabel (DSO)

Safeguarding Policy

As a youth dance group, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils. We recognise that anyone who comes into contact with children has a duty to safeguard and promote child welfare.

We ensure that all appropriate measures are applied in relation to anyone who works or volunteers at LDA CIC, who is likely to be perceived by the children as a safe and trustworthy adult. All teachers are required to have a DBS, and volunteers are supervised at all times by the staff members.

LDA CIC shares a purpose with parents to educate, keep children safe from harm and have their welfare promoted. We are committed to working with parents positively, openly and honestly. We always encourage parents to discuss any concerns they may have with the dance teachers as soon as possible.

LDA CIC has identified Annabel Weeden as the Designated Safeguarding Person with responsibility for child protection. The school has additionally identified all teachers are responsible for safeguarding students. This is to ensure the safety and welfare of our students remains paramount.

It is paramount to LDA CIC that all students are supported by LDA students and their parents.
