MERGE DANCE CO – TERMS & CONDITIONS
By enrolling with Merge Dance Co (MDC), you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
1. GENERAL INFORMATION
This document outlines the rules, regulations, and expectations of Merge Dance Co. These Terms & Conditions apply to all students and families enrolled at MDC.
2. EXAMS
Merge Dance Co does not currently offer formal dance exams. Exams may be considered in the future for interested students. Please speak with Miss Kass if you would like to discuss this option.
3. MDC CONCERT
Merge Dance Co holds an annual end-of-year concert.
All students are automatically included in a concert routine unless parents/carers advise otherwise.
Participation in the concert will involve:
Purchase or hire of a costume
A concert levy of $45
4. COMPETITION SOLOS
Competition solos are optional and decided by the parent and student.
Requirements:
Students must be enrolled in Ballet
Under 7 years: minimum of 1 ballet class per week
7 years and over: minimum of 2 ballet classes per week
(these requirements apply regardless of solo style)
Additional requirements:
Weekly private lesson
Purchase of a solo costume
The number of competitions entered each year is at the discretion of the family.
***Please note Solo fees are excluded from group multi class discounts.
5. EXTENSION PROGRAM
The Extension Program is designed for students wishing to take their training more seriously.
This program focuses on:
Technique development
Additional styles not on the regular timetable (including Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, National Character, etc.)
Competition team routines (potentially performed at Albury Eisteddfod)
Enrolment requirements:
An Annual Registration Fee of $50 per student will apply
Minis Program: must be enrolled in Minis Ballet and Minis Dance
Junior / Intermediate / Pre-Senior / Senior Program: must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 other classes, 2 of which must be Ballet
6. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY & PRIVACY
All MDC students are to be trained exclusively by Merge Dance Co.
All choreography, routines, music, edits, recordings, and teaching materials are:
Copyrighted
The intellectual property of Merge Dance Co
These materials may not be:
Performed
Demonstrated
Shared
Recorded
Used elsewhere
without the express permission of Miss Kassia Bertrand.
If a student leaves MDC, they may not take or use MDC choreography.
Students may not enter any eisteddfod, competition, or workshop without prior permission from Miss Kassia Bertrand.
By enrolling with Merge Dance Co (MDC), students agree to train exclusively with MDC.
Students enrolled at MDC may not be simultaneously enrolled at another dance school, studio, or training provider without prior written approval from Miss Kassia Bertrand.
This policy applies to:
All dance styles
All recreational and competitive training
Classes, teams, and private lessons
Failure to comply with this condition may result in:
Review of enrolment
Removal from classes, programs, or teams
at the discretion of Merge Dance Co.
7. UNIFORM
Uniform requirements:
Black leotard and pink ballet tights
Hair neatly secured in a bun
Exceptions:
Hip Hop and Tap students may wear black leggings/shorts with a Merge crop or t-shirt
Footwear:
Ballet: Ballet shoes
Jazz: Jazz shoes
Tap: Tap shoes
Hip Hop: Runners
Contemporary/Lyrical: Bare feet, toe thongs, turning shoes, contemporary shoes, or dance socks
MDC uniforms and merchandise are available for purchase.
Ready Set Program:
The Ready Set uniform is compulsory
Can be purchased through MDC or the Ready Set website
8. FEES & PAYMENTS
Fees are invoiced per term
Invoices are emailed at the start of each term
Payment is due within 14 days of invoice issue
A late fee of $25 applies to overdue invoices
9. ATTENDANCE
Consistent attendance is essential for student progress and development. While we understand absences may occur, families are encouraged to maintain regular attendance wherever possible.
10. COMMUNICATION
Miss Kass is contactable via phone, email, or social media between 9:00am – 3:30pm on weekdays.
Families must regularly check:
Their nominated email address
The MDC app
All newsletters, updates, and important information will be communicated through these channels.
11. CLASS LEVELS
Classes are generally grouped by age; however, placements are flexible. Students may be moved to a different level if it is deemed more appropriate for their development and progression.
12. CLASS OBSERVATION POLICY
All classes are closed to parents and carers.
This policy exists to:
Maintain student safety
Reduce distractions
Allow students to get the most from their class experience
Open classes may be offered during certain terms. These will be advertised in advance.
13. SEPARATION & SETTLING IN
It is completely normal for young children to experience separation anxiety when starting classes.
Settling typically takes up to 3 weeks
Parents are encouraged to support their child positively during this period
Children should never be forced to attend if they are distressed
If difficulties persist after 3 weeks, a break may be taken and the child encouraged to return the following term.
Dance should always remain a positive experience.
14. CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY
A registration/enrolment fee is required for all new students
This fee is non-refundable under any circumstances
No refunds are given for missed classes
Missed classes and no-shows are still charged
If absence is advised more than 24 hours in advance, a make-up class may be offered if available and must be taken within the current term
Invoices continue while a student remains enrolled
To cancel enrolment, families must notify Miss Kass
There is no fee to cancel enrolment, however no refunds will be given for remainder of the term
15. PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO CONSENT
By enrolling at Merge Dance Co, parents/guardians acknowledge and consent to their child being photographed and/or filmed during classes, rehearsals, performances, and studio activities. These images and videos may be used by Merge Dance Co for studio displays, social media, marketing, promotional materials, and other business-related purposes.
Requests for exemption due to exceptional personal or safety circumstances may be considered by Merge Dance Co at its sole discretion on a case-by-case basis.
16. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By completing enrolment with Merge Dance Co, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to all Terms & Conditions listed above.
