This document defines the terms and conditions by which Molesey School of Ballet agrees to deliver its services.
By registering with Molesey School of Ballet, students and customers agree to those terms and conditions.
By attending classes, students and customers agree to those terms and conditions.
Responsibilities
It is a customer’s responsibility to read and familiarise themselves with Molesey School of Ballet terms and conditions, which can be accessed from the online registration webpage or from their Class Manager account once they are registered with the school. Molesey School of Ballet reserves the right to update and modify the terms and conditions, in which case customers would be informed by email and invited to consult the document again to familiarise themselves with those updates or changes.
Customers and students information are held securely in Class Manager. It is a customer’s responsibility to keep their contact details (emergency contact numbers, address, contact number, email address) and students medicals up to date.
Teachers should be informed before a student takes part in a lesson, of any change to the student’s health or fitness.
Fees
Fees can be found on the Molesey School of Ballet website:
http://www.moleseyballet.co.uk/uniform.html
Fees will be reviewed occasionally and may increase with notice.
Fees should be paid the first week of term, or before the due date stated on the invoice. Fees are non refundable, should a student fail to attend their lesson, whether for illness, injury, exclusion for disruptive behaviour or any other reason.
Failure to settle an invoice before half term will incur a 10% late payment charge, to be added to the overdue term fees.
Molesey School of Ballet reserves the right to exclude students from their class(es) until any overdue payment has been received.
A new discount scheme of 5% to be deducted from the total fees, will take place from September 2023. The discount will be given to customers paying for two or more classes, being for the same student or for several students of the same family. Discounts in place before September 2023 will remain for as long as qualifying conditions remain, or unless reviewed by Molesey School of Ballet.
Leaving notice
Half a term’s notice is required in writing to Molesey School of Ballet should a student wish to withdraw from any classes or from the school.
Molesey School of Ballet must receive the notice on or before the last day of the previous half term. Failure to do so will result in being liable for half a term’s fees. Molesey School of ballet will not accept notices sent during the summer holidays should a student wish to leave the school or a class in September. Please refer to the table below for the correct dates.
Leaving Notice to be given BEFORE
October half term First day of Autumn term
End of Autumn term First day of October half term
February half term First day of Spring term
End of Spring term First day of February half term
May half term First day of Summer term
End of Summer term First day of May half term
Should a student wish to withdraw from their class(es) temporarily, the same notice conditions apply.
Classes cancellation
Should a class be cancelled because of adverse weather conditions, cancellation from the venue, or for any other reason, customers will be notified by text and/or email.
Should a teacher be unavailable for their scheduled class, a supply teacher might run the class. Should this not be possible, the class will be cancelled. Every effort will be made to reschedule the class to a different date and/or time. No refund can be offered to students who cannot attend the rescheduled class.
If the class cannot be rescheduled, fees will be carried forward to the next term, or refunded should this not be possible.
Should classes not be able to take place in their usual setting for long periods of time, due to lockdown, adverse weather conditions, disease, or any other reason, every effort will be made to offer online classes and students will be expected to take part on the same basis as their usual classes. Molesey School of Ballet terms and conditions will still apply. Online classes will run at the same rate as classes in person. No refund nor discount will be offered. Molesey School of Ballet reserves the right to consider, or not, special circumstances to a customer’s situation as they judge them relevant.
Punctuality
Students should arrive in good time to get ready before their lesson starts.
Any concern regarding repeated instances of lateness will be raised by the teacher or school principles with a customer. Late arrivals to class are disruptive to both the student’s and the rest of the class’s learning.
Absence
Customers should notify Molesey School of Ballet by text or email when a student cannot attend their class. It would be appreciated if teachers could be made aware in good time of planned absences, such as holidays or events, to allow them to plan lessons accordingly.
Every effort should be made to attend classes. Missed classes hinder not only the student’s, but the rest of the class’s learning and progress.
Unwell or contagious students should not attend their class.
Injured students are invited to come and watch their class, should they be well enough to do so, as they will still be learning by watching and listening to the teacher’s explanations.
Health and safety
In the case of an incident/accident, the appropriate actions will be undertaken by a member of staff. Emergency contact(s) will be informed as soon as possible.
Uniform
The uniform list can be consulted on the Molesey School of Ballet website http://www.moleseyballet.co.uk/uniform.html
Students are requested to wear the correct uniform for each class. Hair should be neat and tidy, tied back and off the face. Ballet students should endeavour to wear their hair in a bun.
Ballet shoes should be well fitted, with the laces tied in a bow and tucked inside the shoes.
We recommend buying uniforms and shoes from:
4 Dance, 4 Thames Street, Walton on Thames, Surrey, KT12 2PU
School rules
Customers, students and anyone accompanying students to classes are expected to be respectful to Molesey School of Ballet staff and to one another. Students are expected to conduct themselves in a disciplined manner whilst attending their class.
No bullying towards Molesey School of Ballet staff or students will be tolerated, whether physical, verbal or online. No discriminatory language will be tolerated. Any such cases, should they occur, should be reported to one of the principles, who will contact parties involved.
Molesey School of Ballet reserves the right to exclude a student from their class should their behaviour be considered detrimental or disruptive. They also reserve the right to exclude a customer from the school, should their behaviour or actions be detrimental to the school community.
Students can bring a water bottle, containing water only, to class. No food or chewing gum are to be consumed during class or on the premises.
Please ensure young students are taken to the toilet before class.
Mobile phones should be turned off or silent if brought to class.
Exams and moving up a class
Students either move up a class when they have successfully taken an exam, or when their teacher estimates they are ready and can cope with the requirements of the next higher grade class.
Students who have shown commitment and have made regular progress might be invited for external examinations, such as those offered by ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing).
Watching
We do not encourage parents/guardians to stay with the children in class, although we understand it might be necessary for some of our younger students when they start.
Conditions permitting, Molesey School of Ballet will run a Watching Week at the end of each term (3 times a year), when parents can come and watch a class.
Photography and video consent
Students may on occasions be photographed or filmed during lessons, rehearsals or shows. Photographs and videos may be used for marketing purposes for Molesey School of Ballet, including prints, website and social media. If a customer does not wish photographs or videos of the student to be used for these purposes, they should select ‘No’ to ‘Photographs and videos consent’ on the registration form. This can be updated when access is granted to the online Class Manager portal.
Physical correction
During a lesson, it might be necessary for a teacher to physically assist a student to correct their posture or movements. Teachers will seek approval from the student before making any physical correction.
Personal properties
Molesey School of Ballet cannot be held responsible for any lost or damaged property.
