Payment Policy
We request payment in advance on a monthly basis via Class manager unless agreement has been made regarding weekly payments . No refunds are given for days when the student is not in attendance. In exceptional circumstances an agreement may be reached to pay in arrears; however, upon signing up your child you will still be committing to pay for the full amount. Please note that a £4.50 charge will be applied for every 7 days that an invoice is overdue.
Cancellation of Classes: If classes are cancelled due to the fault of the company the time will be made up, or fees will be deducted from the following month’s fees. We retain the right to change the advertised classes in the event of illness or other circumstances beyond our control. Radiance Dance reserves the right to change fees without prior notice. However, we will endeavour to inform parents and carers of any changes as soon as possible.
We require a 2 week notice if you decide to withdraw your child from our classes. Failure to do so will result in being liable to pay for the full month of fee's. Should any pupil wish to discontinue any class or leave the school, refunds for any unused classes will not be given.
Attendance Policy
It is a fundamental necessity for the teacher/choreographer to have the time to work with the students; therefore all pupils are expected to meet a 80% minimum attendance. Parents are asked to contact us when their child is absent giving an indication of the reason.
Choreography for Performances: When working towards group choreography for competitions or performances, should attendance drop below 80% we reserve the right to alter students’ positions and if deemed necessary, he/she will be removed from a section or the whole piece.
Behaviour Policy
During sessions, students are expected to behave in a polite manner. They are expected to listen and we discourage unnecessary talking. If a student is causing disruption to others’ learning they may be asked to leave the lesson. Any unacceptable behaviour from students and/or parents/carers will not be tolerated. Unacceptable behaviour by pupils may result in exclusion from current and/or further activities. Parents or family members may be banned from premises, events and/or performances.
Anti-Bullying Policy
We recognise that every child has the right to enjoy a life free from bullying; therefore we will always take all allegations of bullying and are committed to deal with it effectively when it does happen. We will always ensure to work with students and parents to prevent it from happening.
Physical Contact
Teaching dance is a physical activity and appropriate physical contact between students and teachers in class is essential to training. We recognize that such physical contact is a potentially complex area, and the company also fully recognises its responsibilities for safeguarding students and teachers and for protecting their welfare.
The following principles and procedures are in place to fulfil the company’s obligations:
a. Contact by the teacher is made with a particular awareness of the needs of each individual to assist the dancer in correcting placement.
b. All teachers will treat any physical contact with due sensitivity and care, and with due regard for the wishes of the student.
c. Contact will not involve force
d. Teachers will be mindful of location and avoid situations where they are isolated from the student; a one to one class should be held in studios and dance areas with windows or with the parent/carer present.
e. Students and parents are encouraged to discuss any worries with any member of staff or an independent listener.
f. Both students and teachers should feel free to report any concerns to the designated safeguarding lead, Hana Hodson.
Safeguarding & Child protection
Radiance Dance believes that:
The welfare of children is vital
All children, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious beliefs and/or sexual identity have the right to protection from abuse
All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately
All staff (paid/voluntary) working in dance have a responsibility to report concerns to the principal or other identified staff
The dance school has a duty of care to safeguard all children involved in dance from harm. All children have a right to protection and the needs of disabled children and others who may be particularly vulnerable must be taken into account. The dance school will ensure the safety and protection of all children involved in dance through adherence to the Child Protection guidelines. A child is defined as under 18 The Children Act 1989.
Our prime responsibility is the welfare and well being of all children in our care. As such we believe that we have a duty to the children, parents/main carers and staff to act quickly and responsibly in any instance that may come to our attention. All staff and volunteers employed directly by Radiance Dance will be DBS Checked before the commencement of their employment, first aid trained and covered under and are covered by their own PL Insurance.
Health & Safety
Radiance School of Dance takes seriously their responsibility to ensure the safety of their pupils. All pupils must complete a Registration Form via Classmanager when joining the school and ask parents to ensure information regarding emergency contacts and any relevant medical history is stored on there and kept up to date. A copy of emergency contact numbers will be kept on class registers.
It is the parent’s responsibility to notify the school of any changes to their emergency contact details
In case of a Fire emergency all teachers have a clear understanding of responsibilities. They must be understood by all following the procedures of St Stephens Church.
The School will undertake regular assessment of risks regarding premises hired and any concerns will be raised with the providers.
We are committed to ensuring all employees/volunteers are competent to do their tasks and to give them adequate training.
It is the schools responsibility to keep a fully equipped First Aid Box at all hired premises. In case of an incident – an Accident / Incident report must be made
If required the school will contact the emergency services first, then the parent / guardian of the student(s) involved by the telephone number on the class registers
Parents understand that dance is as active as engagement as any sport, and whilst every effort is made to avoid them, injuries can happen. The school accepts no responsibility for injuries sustained by any means other than a teacher’s negligence
Pupils will be supervised during class time only and parents / carers must ensure the safety of their children at drop off times.
Students/parents or guardians should inform the teacher of any special health considerations or existing injuries before participating in class
Parents must be responsible for ensuring your child’s punctuality. Teachers are not available to supervise late pickups. Students may be refused entry if they are continuously late for class as they are missing out on warming up safely for class
Dress code must be observed at all times, especially footwear for safe dance practice.
Pupils should not wear any jewellery that may pose a risk to themselves or others (stud earrings, and jewellery worn for religious or cultural reasons are acceptable)
Uniform Policy
Uniform is required for all lessons. For new students, after attending Radiance for one month you will be expected to wear the correct dance uniform. To ensure health and safety is met during lessons students should tie their hair back and assure appropriate footwear is used for specific classes.
Attending other dance schools
We are happy for students to participate in other dance or performing art opportunities outside of the dance school and often we may present dance opportunities outside of the school for your child. However, we would strongly advise students not to take lessons in core subjects at other dance schools as this causes confusion for the child as the techniques used may conflict. The core subjects are Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Street Dance/Hip-Hop. We also need to be made aware if your child is attending another dance school as it can affect numbers within examinations and also conflict when it comes to competitions. If your child’s commitments to another dance establishment starts to conflict with the ethos of the Radiance School of Dance your child will be asked to give up classes at one of the establishments.
Videography & Photography
Occasionally, we may video or photograph your child for use of social media. When enrolling parents/carers will be asked to complete a google form, confirming whether they agree to their child being included in videography/photography without permission being requested for each time.
Radiance Dance reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time for the benefit of the business, staff or participants.
