Terms and Conditions for the Rince Academy of Irish Dance


Welcome to the Rince Academy of Irish Dance. By enrolling in our classes, you agree to abide by the following terms and conditions, which are designed to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive environment for all students and staff.


Enrolment and Age Requirements

Rince Academy offers classes for dancers aged 4+ years. By enrolling, you confirm that the dancer meets the age requirement for the class. Parental consent is required for all students under 18 years of age.


  • Classes are held on a weekly basis, and schedules are subject to change.
  • A qualified TCRG will always be present at classes.
  • Rince Academy reserves the right to make changes to the class schedule, location, and instructor without prior notice. Enrolled students will be notified of any changes as soon as possible.
  • Dancers wishing to participate in competitions must attend a minimum of two classes per week to ensure adequate preparation.
  • Dancers who wish to participate in Irish dancing grade exams or competitions must be registered with AIDA (Australian Irish Dancing Association), the governing body of Irish dancing in Australia.
  • Available upon request and subject to availability.
  • Spots are reserved for the term, and classes are 30 minutes long.
  • Fees are due on a term-by-term basis, with pay-as-you-go options available.
  • Progressive multi-class discounts and sibling discounts are available.
  • Payment plans can be arranged upon request via email.
  • Late payments may incur additional fees.
  • Refunds will only be given in exceptional circumstances and are at the discretion of Rince Academy.
  • If Rince Academy cancels a class, a credit will be applied to future classes.
  • For absences of 4 weeks or more due to injury, illness, or other significant circumstances, credits will be issued upon receipt of supporting documentation.
  • Regular attendance is important for students' progress and development.
  • If you are unable to attend your class, you may attend a make-up class within the term, provided you notify us in writing.
  • Students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and appropriate manner while at Rince Academy and in class.

  • Students are not to be on their mobile phones during class.

Tops

Rince Academy T-shirt or a comfortable top (e.g., singlet or plain T-shirt).

Bottoms

Practical options include black shorts, tights, leggings, skorts, or tracksuit bottoms.

Socks

Irish dance socks: poodle socks for girls, black socks for boys. Longer socks are preferable for better support.

Extra Layers

Jumper or jacket for warmth during colder weather.

Accessories

Leg warmers are optional for warming up or cooling down.

Hair

Girls - Hair must be neat and tidy, pulled off the face in a bun or pony tail.

Boys - Hair must be neat and tide, pulled off the face.

Academy Apparel

  1. Rince Academy-branded clothing is available through the "Shop" tab in the parent portal on Class Manager. Contact us for assistance.
  2. Rince Academy Malley Sports Teamwear is available for purchase at the beginning of each term. A link will be shared with parents to access the online store for a 2 week period for each term.

Recreational Dancers (Tiny Jiggers, Reel Fun & Adult Class)

Irish Light Shoes (Pumps), Black Jazz Shoes, or Dance Trainers (eg. Capezio or Bloch brand)

Competitive Dancers

Irish Light Shoes (Pumps), Irish Heavy Shoes (Jig Shoes)

  • To ensure classes run on time, we have a pick-up/drop-off window.
  • We kindly ask that dancers and parents arrive at the studio no more than 5 minutes before class starts and 5 minutes before it ends.
  • For example, if a class starts at 5pm, the studio will be open for pick-up/drop-off at 4:55pm. If the class ends at 6pm, the studio is open for pick-up/drop-off at 5:55pm.
  • We understand you may need to speak with us during this time; a teacher will be available to answer questions, or you can contact us via email or scheduled phone call.
  • Please note that classes run back-to-back, so punctuality is crucial to avoid disruptions.
  • Rince Academy does not allow parents to stay and watch classes to ensure students can focus fully and develop independence in their learning environment.
  • Only scheduled viewing weeks throughout the year are open for parents to watch.
  • Rince Academy accepts no liability for any injury or damage to personal property that may occur during classes or events, whether on or off the premises.
  • Students participate in classes at their own risk.
  • We are not responsible for the loss of personal items in the studio.
  • Irish dance is a high-intensity activity.
  • Parents/guardians must inform Rince Academy in writing of any injuries, health concerns, or conditions that may affect participation.
  • Emergency contact information must be provided upon enrolment.
  • Photography and media consent is obtained via the parent portal on Class Manager.
  • By agreeing, parents/guardians allow Rince Academy to use photos and videos for promotional purposes.
  • Rince Academy is committed to helping students reach their full potential.
  • As students progress, they will be encouraged to develop their skills and take on new challenges.
  • Practice videos will be made available via Dropbox links to assist students with home practice.
  • Rince Academy reserves the right to terminate enrolment for repeated non-payment of fees, persistent disruptive behaviour, or failure to comply with these terms and conditions or the Code of Conduct.
  • Students may withdraw from Rince Academy by providing notice via email.
  • Rince Academy is not liable for disruptions caused by events beyond its control, such as natural disasters or government restrictions.
  • Where possible, virtual classes or credits will be offered.
  • Rince Academy reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time.
  • Changes will be communicated to enrolled students promptly.
  • Be respectful to fellow students, teachers, and staff at all times.
  • Attend classes regularly, arrive on time, and participate fully.
  • Follow teacher instructions and help create a positive class atmosphere.
  • Wear the appropriate dance attire and footwear for each class.
  • Let your teacher know about any injuries or health concerns before class.
  • Support your child by ensuring regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Communicate respectfully with teachers and staff.
  • Raise concerns or feedback directly with Rince Academy in a constructive way.
  • Avoid entering the studio during class unless invited.
  • Only take photos or videos with prior approval.
  • Regular attendance is essential for progress.
  • Students participating in competitions or performances must attend all required rehearsals and meet the Competition Policy (minimum two classes per week).
  • Notify Rince Academy in advance of any planned absences.
  • Inform us of any health issues or injuries in writing to ensure your child’s safety.
  • Follow all safety guidelines during classes and events.
  • Bring a water bottle to class to stay hydrated.
  • Bullying or disrespectful behaviour is not tolerated.
  • Encourage and support others in a friendly and positive way.
  • Follow Rince Academy rules during classes, events, and competitions.
  • Media consent is managed through the parent portal on Class Manager.
  • Photos or videos taken during classes or events are for personal use only unless approved by Rince Academy.
  • Students and families are expected to follow the codes of conduct set by CLRG and AIDA.
  • Breaches of the Code of Conduct may result in a verbal or written warning.
  • Repeated or serious breaches may lead to suspension or dismissal.
