TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT
Ripley Academy of Dance Ltd. and Ripley Academy of Drama Ltd.
(collectively referred to as “the Academy”)
These Terms and Conditions set out the agreement between the Academy and the parent or legal guardian enrolling a student, or the student themselves where aged 18 or over. Please read them carefully before enrolling.
· Academy: Ripley Academy of Dance Ltd. and/or Ripley Academy of Drama Ltd.
· Parent/Guardian/You: The person with parental responsibility who signs the enrolment form.
· Student: The child or adult enrolled for classes.
· Term: The published teaching term of the Academy.
· Fees: All tuition fees, examination fees, performance fees and any other charges notified by the Academy.
2.1 A legally binding contract is formed once a completed enrolment/registration form has been received and accepted by the Academy.
2.2 These Terms apply to all classes, activities and services provided by the Academy unless otherwise stated in writing.
3.1 Fees are payable in advance and must be paid within the first two weeks of each Term unless otherwise agreed in writing.
3.2 A late payment surcharge of 10% may be applied to any fees outstanding after this period.
3.3 Payment methods accepted are cash or cheque. Cheques must be made payable to Ripley Academy of Dance Ltd. or Ripley Academy of Drama Ltd. as applicable.
3.4 Fees cover reserved class places and are non-refundable once a Term has commenced, except where: - the Academy cancels classes without providing a suitable alternative; - required by law; or - at the Academy’s sole discretion in exceptional circumstances.
3.5 Missed classes due to illness, holidays or other absences are not refundable and cannot be credited.
4.1 Students are expected to attend classes regularly, punctually and to behave in a respectful manner towards staff and fellow students.
4.2 The Academy reserves the right to refuse admission to, suspend or permanently remove any Student whose behaviour is deemed disruptive, unsafe or inappropriate.
4.3 Where a Student is removed for disciplinary reasons, Fees will not normally be refunded.
5.1 The Academy does not ordinarily accept students who are concurrently training with other theatrical schools or franchise outlets without prior written consent.
5.2 Failure to disclose dual training may result in withdrawal of the Student from the Academy without refund.
6. Health, Safety and Supervision
6.1 Dance and drama training involves physical activity and carries an inherent risk of injury.
6.2 The Academy will take reasonable care to ensure a safe learning environment; however, participation is undertaken at the Parent’s/Student’s own risk.
6.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the Academy’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
6.4 The Academy is only responsible for Students during their scheduled class times. Parents/guardians remain responsible for supervision before and after classes.
6.5 The Academy does not accept responsibility for Students who leave the premises without supervision.
7.1 Students must wear the correct uniform and footwear as specified by the Academy for health, safety and discipline reasons.
7.2 No body jewellery or watches may be worn during classes.
7.3 Hair must be neat and secured according to the class requirements.
8. Property and Personal Belongings
8.1 The Academy does not accept responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings.
8.2 Valuables should not be brought onto the premises.
9.1 Smoking, chewing gum and inappropriate behaviour are prohibited on the premises.
9.2 Vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk. The Academy accepts no responsibility for damage to or theft from vehicles.
9.3 Parents are requested not to park on pavements adjacent to the studio for pedestrian safety.
10. Performances, Examinations and Rehearsals
10.1 Participation in performances and examinations is conditional upon regular attendance and satisfactory progress.
10.2 Additional rehearsals may be required, and reasonable efforts must be made to attend.
10.3 Performance and examination fees are non-refundable once entries have been submitted.
11. Physical Guidance and Safeguarding
11.1 Dance training may involve appropriate physical guidance by teachers to correct posture or technique.
11.2 By enrolling, Parents consent to such guidance unless written notice is provided to the Academy.
11.3 The Academy operates safeguarding policies which are available upon request.
12. Photography and Video Recording
12.1 The Academy may take photographs and videos for training, assessment and promotional purposes.
12.2 Consent for use of images for marketing (including website, printed materials and social media) will be obtained separately and may be withdrawn at any time in writing.
12.3 Images will never be sold to third parties.
13.1 The Academy processes personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
13.2 Personal data is used for: - administration and emergency contact; - medical awareness; - examination and licensing entries; - communication regarding Academy activities.
13.3 Data may be shared with examination boards, licensing authorities and casting partners where necessary.
13.4 You have the right to request access to, correction or deletion of personal data, restrict processing, and lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
13.5 Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary and securely destroyed once tuition ends.
14.1 The Academy reserves the right to amend these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be made available and continued attendance constitutes acceptance.
15.1 The Academy shall not be liable for failure to provide classes due to events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to illness, extreme weather, fire, flood or government restrictions.
16.1 Any concerns should be raised in writing with the Academy, who will endeavour to resolve matters promptly and fairly.
17.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
18. Acceptance
By clicking agree, the Parent/Guardian confirms that they have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
