Terms and Conditions

Since its foundation in 1998, Scream Theatre Schools has developed an enviable reputation that is built on consistent standards. We can only provide you with exceptional service if our students, parents/guardians and ourselves work hand-in-hand, to support our aims and objectives.

DEFINITIONS

“Company” means Scream Theatre Schools LLP “Child” means the child registered by the Parent to attend the School.
“Client” means the Parent of the Child registering to attend the Scream Theatre School.

“Parent” means the parent or guardian of the Child.

“Student” accepted student(s) registered by a parent.

“School Fees” means the annual fees due to be paid by the parent to the Company as detailed above and as updated on an annual basis.

“School” means Scream Theatre School.

1. ACCEPTANCE AND ADMISSION

1.1 The following terms and conditions shall apply to all students accepted to attend Scream Theatre School. The parent must agree to be legally bound to the terms and conditions of this agreement when booking a trial at Scream Theatre Schools.

1.2 Application to the school will be made via the booking of a trial, places are offered on a first come first served basis. Feedback regarding the trial will be given to parents via a phone call or email regarding the outcome. This will allow both student and parent to make an informed decision regarding the acceptance of a place at the school.

2. PAYMENT

2.1 We require all School Fees to be paid on time as per the payment plan illustrated above.

2.2 All School Fees paid are non-refundable.

2.3 School fees are paid each half term, a full term consists of 12 weeks of workshops/lessons, payment one is due prior to the term start and payment two is due on week 6 of the school term.

2.4 Your first payment will be due before the student’s start date and will act as acceptance of your place at the school. Payments will be made via payable email invoice by card or BACS, please check your junk and spam emails for our communications. Please pay promptly as places are awarded on a first come first serve basis.

2.5 All future payments will be taken via direct debit, Please activate your direct debit via our payment partner ‘Go Cardless’, a link will be sent under a separate email cover for you to complete, once again please check your junk and spam.

2.6 The School Fees entitle the student to attend either;

Three hours of tuition per week at our TV, Film and Theatre School (students aged 6-18 years) for 36 weeks per annum. During each three-hour session, the child will participate in one hour of Acting, one hour of Singing and one hour of Dancing.

Or, our Scream Juniors (students aged 2-5 or 6 years) for 36 weeks per annum. During each two-hour workshop, the child will participate in a curriculum containing Acting, Singing and Dance. Term dates are available via our website or upon request.

2.7 Missed sessions are non-refundable; they can, however, be transferred to another session during the same week.

2.8 From time to time, additional workshops and rehearsals may be required or offered – these are ‘extracurricular’ and will not form part of the School Fees. An additional payment may be required for extracurricular classes /activities but costs will be advised in advance.

2.9 Production and performance costs do not form part of school fees and we always endeavour to work to strict budgets, we will request a one-off payment to support the cost of creating productions, costs will always be advised in advance.

2.10 Any bank charges we incur due to late payments will be passed on to the Client for payment. There will also be an administration fee of £15 for any payments of School Fees that are paid more than seven days late.

2.11 Prices are reviewed annually and may increase including during the minimum term. We will let you know about any material changes before we make them.

3. COMMITMENT

3.1 On acceptance of a place at the school, see 3.4, the Client agrees to be bound to a commitment period of a minimum of a 12-week term and to pay the School Fees for the student to attend during this 12-week period. Also, see 5. Cancellation.

3.2 This agreement is a legally binding agreement between the Company and the Client to cover activities described in 3.6.

3.3 This agreement will automatically roll over at the end of every 12-week (school term), for a further 12-week (school term) commitment period, unless the Client advises the Company in writing, see 5.3 for further details regarding communication of cancellation.

3.4 Any holidays taken in term time are discouraged and no refunds will be offered for the weeks that the student does not attend whilst on holiday.

3.5 If a student is unable to attend due to illness, outside events or extra rehearsals elsewhere, the lessons must still be paid for and fees already paid are non-refundable.

3.6 ­In the event that you do not make the fee payments when due, the right to send the child to attend Scream Theatre Schools will be withdrawn until payment is received and brought up to date. Interest is payable (whether before or after judgment) on any sums not paid when due at the rate of 4% p.a. above the base lending rate of RBS Bank calculated daily. If your account falls into arrears on more than three occasions during any one calendar year we reserve the right to terminate your place with immediate effect.

4. CANCELLATION

4.1 All Clients will be given the opportunity to try out the services offered by Scream Theatre Schools in the form of a Trial.

4.2 The Client may terminate this agreement at the end of the 6th week of lessons/workshops. If the Child has passed this stage of opt-out, the full amount of the School Fees for the remaining 6 weeks of the term shall apply.

4.3 Notice of intention to leave will only be accepted in writing to, Scream, 11 Wareham Road, Blackpool, FY3 7XG, or email to [email protected]; verbal or any other messaging platforms are not accepted forms of communication. The time of receipt (not sending) shall be the time of commencement of the notice period.

4.4 Once we have received official notification of intent to leave, we will acknowledge this formally and confirm the balance of School Fees that are due and outstanding. All outstanding School Fees must be paid in full by the date the student leaves.

4.5 The Company reserves the right to charge interest on any late payment of School Fees payable under this clause 5.5. Interest is payable (whether before or after judgment) on any sums not paid when due at the rate of 4% p.a. above the base lending rate of RBS Bank calculated daily.

4.6 The Company may terminate this agreement in the event that a child is persistently abusive or disruptive in sessions or regularly breaches the Schools Rules of Conduct. In these circumstances, the Parent will be invited to the School to discuss the issues but if the Child if the outcome is that the child is dismissed from attending the School, all outstanding School Fees for the remaining 12-week term shall be payable immediately.

5. UNIFORM AND PERSONAL POSSESSIONS

5.5 Every Child is required to wear the Scream uniform to all sessions (the minimum requirement is the School T-shirt). A uniform is an essential part of Scream’s workshops – it is designed for ease of movement and to remove any social hierarchy caused by ‘brand names. Uniforms can be purchased via our website.

5.5.1 A letter or email will be sent home to regular offenders who frequently disregard the need for uniforms.

5.5.2 Regular disregard of this rule may result in the dismissal of the child from Scream Theatre Schools.

5.5.3 The Company reserves the right to supply a child with a uniform to wear during the sessions and the cost of the uniform will be invoiced to the Parent.

5.5.3 Correct footwear must be worn at all times, trainers are best, and no sandals (including crocs) or boots should be worn.

5.5.4 Please do not bring/wear jewellery to workshops, lessons or events. The Company shall not be held liable for the loss, damage or theft of such items.

5.5.5 Hair that is longer than shoulder length must be tied in a ponytail.

5.2 We request that children refrain from bringing items into the School that are not required, such as tablets, laptops, iPads etc – The Company shall not be held liable for the loss, damage or theft of such items.

5.2 The recording of workshop sessions is strictly prohibited unless express permission has been granted by the Principal.

5.3 All property including uniform should be marked with the Child’s name to assist in the safe return of lost items. The Company shall not be held liable for items damaged or lost.

5.4 All lost property will be kept at reception in the designated Lost Property Box; it will be kept for 30 calendar days and disposed of at the end of this period of time.

6. HEALTH AND SAFETY

6.1 Students participate at their own risk and are obliged to inform Scream Theatre Schools and its staff of any existing injuries or medical conditions. All trial forms must have any known medical conditions stated and any changes to such information must be notified to Scream Theatre Schools immediately in writing.

6.2 If you are unsure whether a Student should participate in any activity please consult the Student’s GP before enrolling the Student on a Scream Theatre Schools Activity.

6.3 Any medication left on the school premises must be clearly labelled and the Student should, unless Scream Theatre Schools has agreed in writing otherwise, be able to administer it themselves.

6.4 If a Student is unwell or has an accident requiring emergency treatment, the Parent will be contacted via the emergency contact details provided below or on the enrolment form. This number must always be contactable whilst the Student is attending the Scream Theatre Schools Activity.

6.5 Parents are solely responsible for ensuring that the emergency contact details on Scream Theatre Schools’ records are up to date.

6.6 You must make yourself and your child aware of the health and safety rules of the venue and comply with the recommendations at all times.

7. USE OF PERSONAL DATA

7.1 The Parent consents to the Company holding personal data relating to clients and students on file, whilst a student of the School and for a maximum of 12 months thereafter. The Company confirms that all personal data held by the Company is held in accordance with the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998. The Parent is entitled to request a copy of any information held by the Company relating to the student or parent at any time during normal working hours. Personal data will not be passed on to any third parties and will not be used outside the School at any time.

8. GENERAL

8.1 Photographs or recordings may be taken of your Child to use for marketing and recording purposes and also may be published on various social media platforms; If you wish to opt a student out of this, please inform us in an email to [email protected].

8.2 Scream Theatre Schools may, at its discretion, refuse a Student entry to a Scream Theatre Schools Activity or session of a Scream Theatre Schools Activity if it is felt that the Student’s behaviour is unacceptable.

8.3 Scream Theatre Schools reserves the right to make changes to the timetable, the teaching staff,  the advertised programme or the programme delivery mechanism (for clarity this may mean that we switch to online Zoom classes) in the event of illness or other circumstances beyond our control.

8.4 If a teacher is unable to teach the workshop, a suitably qualified replacement will be found.

8.5 Where a session of a Scream Theatre Schools Activity has to be cancelled by Scream Theatre Schools, Principals will give as much notice as possible. In the event of a last-minute session cancellation, you will be notified by email, text message, a call to your mobile phone or through a designated Scream Theatre Schools social media site. Parents must ensure that they provide their Principal with up-to-date contact details. In the event of a Scream Theatre Schools Activity being cancelled, Scream Theatre Schools will provide substitute lessons where possible either at an alternative time, venue or online.

8.6 All Students must be collected on time after a session. Scream Theatre Schools is unable to supervise Students after a session and consistent late collection will result in additional charges.

8.7 All Students of Scream Theatre Schools will be considered after completing three full terms to potentially join our sister company and talent agency Scream Management at the discretion of the Agency Director – this is, however, separate and supplementary to the work of the School and membership of one does not constitute automatic membership of the other. Only students considered for representation will be notified at the appropriate time.

8.8 Scream Theatre Schools owns all the rights, title and interest in and to its websites, including software, text and media and its trademarks, logos and brand elements. Nothing within these Terms & Conditions affects or licences the ownership of these rights. Any intellectual property created during any Course, Workshop or Holiday Workshop/Camp is owned by Scream Theatre Schools.

8.9 These Terms & Conditions, together with any Fee Note or Acceptance Letter, constitute the entire agreement between the parties which supersedes and extinguishes all previous agreements, promises, assurances, warranties, representations and understandings between them, whether written or oral, relating to its subject matter.

8.10 The Agreement shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of England and Wales and any dispute, proceedings or claim shall fall within the jurisdiction of the English courts.

9. SCHOOL’S RULES OF CONDUCT APPLICABLE TO ALL STUDENTS

9.1 To avoid disturbing classes, you and your child are requested to arrive in good time. Entrance to classes may be barred to anyone arriving more than 15 minutes late.

9.2 A teacher may, at any time, ask a student to leave a class if he/she is jeopardising the safety or enjoyment of others or their educational experience.

9.3 Bullying, harassment, abuse or other inappropriate behaviour by you, your child or guests is strictly forbidden and will result in expulsion and such other legal remedies as may be available.

9.4 Parents and students must treat all scream theatre School students, staff and teachers with respect and consideration. Scream Theatre Schools does not tolerate rude, offensive or aggressive remarks and behaviour in any way.

9.5 Smoking, vaping and the bringing or consumption of alcohol and the use of or being under the influence of illegal substances are not permitted anywhere in our school.

9.6 Drinks, sweets or food are not allowed in any of the studios/rooms at any time, unless on designated break/lunch times and under the supervision of Scream staff.

9.7 Chewing gum is banned from all Scream Theatre Schools venues and during online classes.

9.9 Mobile phones must be switched off during lessons/workshops.

9.10 A career in the Performing Arts requires self-discipline: Scream tries to educate its students in a routine of disciplined behaviour which will be important to them on stage and in life in general.
