TERMS AND CONDITIONS
INTRODUCTION
Please read the following terms and conditions. The language used should make these terms and conditions as clear as possible. Select School of Performing Arts reserves the right to refuse entry to classes if these rules are not complied with. The school will review and amend its policies on a regular basis and advises parents and pupils to read this document thoroughly to ensure a clear understanding is gained. Please contact a member of our team if you require further information.
1. REGISTRATION AND FEES
1.1 All students must be enrolled via Class Manager and have completed a Registration Form, read and signed by a parent/carer. By completing and signing the Registration Form and enrolling your child in our classes you are agreeing to the Terms and Conditions below.
1.2 Direct debit must be set up before your child’s first class. Payment are made monthly via GoCardless. Fees are collected two weeks in advance of the 1st of the month, with payments debited from your account on the 20th of the previous month. A £10 late payment fee will be applied to any fees or failed payments not received by the 20th.
1.3 Our fees are pro rata – the total cost of annual classes is split across 12 monthly payments.
1.4 Signing up through our website and setting up your Class Manager account is the only registration and payment method Select School of Performing Arts will accept. We do not accept cash, cheques, or BACS payments.
1.5 We reserve the right to make changes to these amounts and/or collection date if necessary. In this case, you will be given notice via email prior to collection.
1.6 Fees are reviewed annually.
1.7 The system we use is Class Manager. All registrations and payments are set up through our website (www.selectschoolofperformingarts.com) which links to this system.
1.8 There is a registration fee of £25 for new students.
1.9 All class and show fees are non-refundable. Fees are not waived in respect of family holidays, school trips, school exams, or short-term sickness or injury. Instances of long-term sickness or injury will be addressed on an individual basis and must be discussed with the Manager. A late payment fee of £10 will be added to any payments that are not paid on time.
1.10 Trial classes will be charged at the trial fee rate. Should they then join the school, Gocardless direct debit will be set up for the monthly payments.
2. DISCOUNTS
2.1 A multiple class discount is available if your child takes four classes or more. For the fourth class, and any more in addition to this, we will deduct 15% off the fourth and additional classes, this will be shown on your invoice.
3. CANCELLATIONS

4.1 Parents/carers must wait outside the building or the class depending on the venue your child attends.

4.3 Parents/carers must not drop off students and leave them unsupervised in the waiting area.

4.5 If you are going to be late to pick your child up, you must contact a member of Select to inform us. Late pick-up charges will apply.
4.6 Classes are timetabled at 30, 45, and 60 minute durations. Class times include a short period at the start and end of each class for registration and class changeover management. Teachers will keep the changeover times as short as possible so we ask that all students arrive and be collected on time.
4.7 We welcome a “settling in” time if it is needed where parents/carers come into the class and stay with their child until they feel confident to attend the class independently. We are happy to discuss this with parents/carers.
4.8 Some classes run back to back on the timetable without a break. Students should be dressed ready to start their class before entering the class.
4.9 Students are expected to demonstrate respectful behaviour towards their teacher and fellow students and to follow our behaviour code.
4.11 Students must not bring any nut products into the classes or chew gum whilst in class. A bottle of water is allowed.
4.12 We strongly advise that students do not bring any personal property into the class. Students are responsible for their own property and bring items at their own risk. Mobile phones brought into the studio must be turned off and must not be used during the class. Select School of Performing Arts do not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.
4.13 Students are not permitted to leave the studio during a class without permission from the class teacher.
4.14 Due to the nature of teaching dance, physical contact may be necessary when the teacher is helping to demonstrate or correct dance movements. This is carried out with the utmost care and professionalism.
4.15 Select School of Performing Arts cannot be held responsible for any injuries incurred during classes. Teachers will ensure students are learning and progressing in a safe manner.
4.16 A certain amount of risk is involved in taking part in any physical activity. Students taking part in any classes or events run by Select School of Performing Arts do so at their own risk.
4.17 Parents/carers are invited to watch their child’s class at the end of each term to enable them to see and celebrate their progress.
4.16 Parents/carers will have the opportunity to watch their child perform in the professional show which takes place every 18 months. If your child takes part in the show you will be required to purchase/hire costumes, pay a performer fee and purchase tickets.
4.17 All show money paid is non-refundable.
4.18 Our professional performance will be recorded professionally. Personal cameras and recording equipment are not permitted.
5. UNIFORM
5.1 Select School of Performing Arts uniform is available to order online on Class Manager under Shop.
5.2 No jewellery or accessories to be worn to any class for safety reasons.
5.3 Correct uniform must be worn at every class.
5.4 Hair should be in a neat and tidy ponytail or bun and off the face.
6. EXAMINATIONS
6.1 Examinations are offered once a student has reached the required standard. This is determined by their teacher and will vary greatly depending on each student’s ability and not necessarily their age.
6.2 All examinations have an additional charge. Exam fees are reviewed annually.
6.3 Additional classes for examination preparation will be required and these will be charged for.
6.4 Private one to one classes for examination are optional and will be charged at a different rate.
6.5 All examination invoices must be settled within 7 days of the invoice date. Any late payments will receive a £15 additional charge.
6.6 All examination entry fees must be paid in any event before the date of the examination.
7. PERSONAL INFORMATION
7.1 All personal information given by parents/carers will be held on the Class Manager database. This database is used by us to hold information regarding your child.
7.2 Any personal information we collect will be used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and other applicable laws.
8. PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING
8.1 Promotional pictures and footage will be taken throughout the year during classes; we will require a written email if you DO NOT wish for your child to take part. We may also work in collaboration with outside media companies in line with our data protection policy.
8.2 Photographs and video footage of pupils taken by Select School of Performing Arts may be used on our website, social media, and for publicity purposes. Parent/carer consent must be given on the registration link. If you do not wish your child’s image to be used for these purposes, this must be stated on the registration link.
8.3 Photos and filming are only permitted by parents/carers at end-of-term showings and solely for personal use only.
9. DISCIPLINE
9.1 We believe in teaching boundaries and setting a good example in line with our positive ethos to build our students’ confidence.
9.2 Unruly, disruptive behaviour in class will not be tolerated. We have a strict anti-bullying policy in place and expect our students and parents to always adhere to this.
9.3 Our staff will not tolerate abusive or disruptive behaviour from students or parents. We will treat everyone with respect and appreciate the same in return.
9.4 If a child/parent displays consistent unruly or aggressive behaviour, this could result in termination of class membership.
10. RESPONSIBILITIES AND MEDICAL
10.1 It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to ensure that we have correct details for you and your child and keep us updated of any changes to health or any information on Class Manager.
10.2 It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to notify Select School of Performing Arts of any illness or injury that may affect their child’s participation in their class.
10.3 Select School of Performing Arts do not accept responsibility for loss, damage or injury arising from errors or omissions on the registration form whether completed by you or the person in charge of your child at the time of enrolment.
10.4 Select School of Performing Arts hire premises from Third Parties, therefore all staff, parents, carers and students must abide by the codes of conduct as set out by those Third Parties.
10.5 Avanti House Secondary and Primary School has a Vegetarian Policy so no meat or meat products can be brought onto the premises.
10.6 Parents/carers must follow our nut-free policy and do not bring nuts or nut products into any of our venues.
11. GENERAL
11.1 Select School of Performing Arts communication is made via email and Class Manager. Please ensure you follow our social media platforms for recent updates and continue to check spam/junk email folders. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to keep up to date with all relevant information regarding their child.
11.2 In the event of a session being cancelled due to conditions out of our control, fees will be non-refundable.
11.3 All events are a choice, therefore show participation is not compulsory.
11.4 All teachers are first aid trained and have a basic first aid kit with them during every class where they will use if necessary.
11.5 Any injuries and the First Aid administered will be recorded on an Accident sheet which will be shown to parents/carers to sign.
11.6 We have a safer recruitment process in place for all staff, ensuring they undergo thorough checks and meet our high standards. After recruitment, all staff participate in annual safeguarding and child protection training to maintain a safe and supportive environment for our students. Select School of Performing Arts holds Public Liability Insurance, and all staff members are Enhanced DBS checked and certified.
