Registration Terms and Conditions

Acceptance

Pupils are accepted into Suffolk Academy of Dance & Performing Arts on the understanding that they comply with the terms and conditions set out below. Suffolk Academy prides itself on its friendly, non-competitive atmosphere. All students are expected to work hard and show respect for their fellow students, teachers, and surroundings. The principal reserves the right to request a student to leave the academy if their behaviour is inappropriate or unacceptable at any time.

The placing of a student into the appropriate class is at the discretion of the principal and teachers, being based on age and ability. If at any time it is felt by the teachers that the student would benefit from changing classes, then this will be discussed with the parents.

Trial lessons

Trial lessons are offered to everyone wishing to start a new class (including existing students). At present (due to Covid precautions) parents can only accompany their child if they are trying a preschool class.

Registering

When registering please ensure that dates of birth and emergency contact details are correct. The emergency phone number should be that of someone who will be available while the student is in class. If possible, please include more than 1 phone number.

Additional information – this information helps us to know and understand the students, and where necessary adapt our teaching. For example, if a student has a Dyslexia diagnosis, then they often need longer to remember sequences of steps or learn a new step. It helps us to know who a student lives with, so we know when talking in class who they can ask about things or who to pass information onto.

If there is anything that you are unsure about, please email to discuss.

It is really important that we know about any medical conditions, especially asthma, which must be recorded on the registration, along with any allergies.

Fees

Fees are paid for the classes which the student attends. Any extra activities which may arise will be optional and charged at the appropriate rate.

Fees are payable at the start of every 6 weeks. An invoice will be sent to you via Class Manager and will include the date that the invoice is payable by.

Hip Hop, Street Dance, Musical Theatre Dance, Contemporary, Little Stars - £30

Rubies - £40

All others £53

Fees which are not paid on time will be subjected to a 10% late payment charge.

Student absences will not be refunded. In ‘normal’ times missed classes may be made up by attending an additional class.

A Sibling Discount of 15% is given to families and will be shown on the issued invoices.

Account statements can be viewed on Class Manager

Cancellations

If a class has to be cancelled, as much notice as possible will be given via email. The cost of any classes cancelled by SADPA will be deducted from the next terms invoice.

Giving Notice

If a student no longer wishes to continue with a class, then notice must be given before the start of the next term, as fees should be paid in advance of classes being taken and mid- term refunds will not be issued.

Injuries, illness, and absences

Class absences should be reported via email in advance if possible. The appropriate guidelines should be followed regarding illness e.g., Covid 19 isolation, not returning to class until 48 hours after being sick and not coming to class after developing any contagious illnesses such as chicken pox until no longer contagious.

In the case of injury students are encouraged to still come to class and watch so that they don’t miss out on seeing what is learnt in the lesson. Injuries should be discussed with the class teacher at drop off or in more complicated cases reported via email.

Examinations

Examinations are optional, for ballet, tap, modern and musical theatre students but all students are encouraged to take them so that they are able to see the progress they are making and feel proud of their achievements. Letters and invoices will be issued in advance of examinations via Class Manager detailing times and fees. Any fees not received by the date stated will result in the student being withdrawn from the examination.

Assessments will be held for Contemporary,

Shows

‘Big Shows’ are generally held bi-annually, and all students participate in these. In between times students are given other opportunities to perform. During shows students are looked after by chaperones who are all licensed by Suffolk County Council. The chaperones are all volunteers (mostly parents).  Letters will be issued via Class Manager prior to shows giving full details and requesting permissions.

Coming to class

Students with asthma must ensure they have their inhalers with them.

Students should arrive on time and ready to start their class.

Gum is not allowed in class or on the premises.

Mobile phones are not to be taken out of bags during class and should be on silent. Older students may occasionally be allowed to use them at the discretion of the teacher to record work they are learning. However, this should only include themselves, or if including other students, they must ask first, and it should not be posted on social media.

Covid -19 Secure

These are the measures that we currently have in place to comply with our Risk Assessments to ensure that we are able to keep all of our students and teachers as safe as possible. They are reviewed regularly.

If your child is showing any symptoms of Covid-19 they MUST NOT come to class.  If they show symptoms within 48 hours of being in class, then [email protected] should be informed.

Students should not come to class if anyone in their household has tested positive, this is for 10 days from the positive test.

Parents are not allowed into the building

Students will arrive as ‘class ready’ as possible, parents, where possible will take coats with them.

Students should only bring with them the essentials – water bottle, inhaler. For ballet and tap classes, a bag with shoes in is permitted but should only contain the essentials.

Parents must be on time for arrival and departure times, to reduce contact between bubbles and class disruption.

A gap will be maintained between classes so that different classes don’t come into contact with each other and to allow the halls to be ventilated

Teachers will ensure that:

Students sanitise their hands, on arrival and departure

While case numbers remain high, social distancing will be maintained as much as feasibly possible. This will be reviewed regularly.
