Terms and Conditions

CODE OF CONDUCT

West Beach Dance Academy is committed to providing safe, exciting, and educational classes for each of our dancers in a disciplined but fun environment. In order to provide a safe and uplifting environment for all students, we ask that families follow the studio’s code of conduct. It takes everyone’s help to create a positive dance experience.

Students: Parents: Have fun! - Maintain a positive attitude Arrive on time - Give uplifting feedback to dancers Dress per the WBDA dress code - Drop off and pick up dancer(s) on time. Notify your instructor immediately if you are injured or ill - WBDA is NOT responsible for children outside of the dance classroom. Maintain a positive attitude - Do not leave children/siblings unattended at the studio, your children and Always give 100% of your effort and heart their conduct is your responsibility. - Please provide appropriate supervision for children in the waiting area. - Trust the professional advice/assessment/opinion of the WBDA staff.


FEES AND PAYMENTS

Fees are charged per school term (4 terms per year). All fees are inclusive of GST. Fees are payable by week 4 of each term. Fees received after the due date on invoice will automatically incur an overdue fee of $10. Additional $10 late fees will be applied each week outstanding thereafter. Payment plans must be paid in full by week 7 of term. Payment plans must be approved at the commencement of each term. Under no circumstances can fees be carried into the next term. Fees are not refunded for missed classes, exams, etc. In the event the student does not provide West Beach Dance Academy with full payment and late fees by the week 7 of the Term, the student will not be permitted to participate in the dance class. Further, the outstanding amount will be referred to a debt collector. The client is responsible for all charges associated with their dance class and debt recovery. 10% discount applies to families with more than one immediate family member enrolled and concession card holders (at sighting of their card). This discount does not apply to costume hire, casual classes, or competition lessons. This discount is null and void if fees are paid after week 4 of term. No student who has money owing by the Dance Display date, or the Major Production date will be allowed to perform in the concert. Costume hire fee is $32 per costume for Major Production costuming. A Performer Package fee of $30 will be applied for each performer participating in our end of year Major Production. The Costume hire and Performer Package fees are to be paid in Term 3 of the year and are non-refundable if you/your child decides not to continue with classes. Fee payments can be made by Bank Deposit, Cash or Card. In accordance with our Child Protection Policy all students who have not completed and returned their Membership Form are unable to participate in classes.

 

CASUAL CLASS BOOKINGS AND PAYMENTS

All casual class dates are listed on the West Beach Dance Academy website or social media pages. Fees are charged on a casual basis. All fees are inclusive of GST. Fees are payable on the day by cash or card. 5 Class Pass payments are non-refundable. All payments must be made before the student can participate in the class. In accordance with our Child Protection Policy all students who have not completed and returned their Membership Form are unable to participate in classes.

 

UNIFORM

All students should be dressed appropriately for class. All long hair should be tied back. No dress ups, fairy costumes or baggy clothes. Girls:Leotard and stockings with hair in bun must be worn in all classical ballet classes. Shorts/wrap skirts are also allowed. For all other styles, leotard or crop top (stockings optional), wrap skirt, dance pants, dance shorts – no baggy tops over leotards. Wrap around ballet tops may be worn in colder months. Boys: track pants or shorts, tight fitting t-shirt or singlet. Hip Hop and Just Dance classes: all students can wear casual clothing that they can move freely in with sneakers. The appropriate shoes (jazz, tap &/or classical) are required by week 5 of the first term of membership - no jiffies allowed. You may be required to paint your shoes to match concert costumes from time to time. Jazz shoes are to be elasticised, not laced. Girls require camel shoes in U12 classes and boys require black. Older students may require black and camel at production times. Second hand shoes are available for purchase at both studios. West Beach Dance Academy merchandise is available online.

 

DAMAGES

The signatory will be financially responsible for any damage sustained to West Beach Dance Academy’s property or fittings by the student or their guardian. Management will charge the signatory for any repairs, labour or replacement as deemed necessary.

 

RESPONSIBILITY

West Beach Dance Academy does not accept responsibility for the damage or loss of goods left on the premises prior to, during or after dance classes. The student and their guardian are solely responsible for their personal belongings and property whilst on the premises.


DUTY OF CARE, SAFETY AND CONDUCT

West Beach Dance Academy provides for the safety and care of students whilst on the premises. West Beach Dance Academy aims to take reasonable care to ensure their acts of omissions do not cause reasonably foreseeable injury to students. Students are responsible for their own conduct, behaviour and personal safety whilst on the premises. West Beach Dance Academy does not accept responsibility for student’s safety outside the premises. West Beach Dance Academy and its service providers attempt to minimise any risk of personal injury within practical boundaries, however accidents do happen, and all physical activities carry the risk of personal injury. All students and guardians acknowledge that while every care and safety measure will be taken, there is an inherent risk of personal injury in physical activities that will be undertaken at the studio/as part of the program and accept that risk. Students choosing to attend a class with an existing injury must supply a signed note (signed by parent or guardian) with detailed information explaining the injury and circumstances regarding participation in class. Where a note is not provided, students will be unable to participate in the class. We will allow students to watch the class in this circumstance. In South Australia, ambulance services are not free or covered by Medicare. South Australia operates a user-pays ambulance service, meaning treatment and transport costs are charged to the patient receiving care. In the event of a medical emergency or serious injury during a dance class or studio activity, our primary concern is the well-being and safety of our clients. The instructor or staff member in charge will assess the situation and, if deemed necessary, call for emergency medical assistance. As mandated by South Australian law, West Beach Dance Academy shall not be held liable for any costs associated with emergency medical services, including but not limited to ambulance fees.


HEALTH AND SAFETY

West Beach Dance Academy is not liable for any personal injury sustained while the student is on site. West Beach Dance Academy is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal property whilst on the premises. West Beach Dance Academy endeavours to provide a safe learning environment and has stringent policies and procedures in place to reduce the risk of injury. However, the nature of dance and performance carries risk of injury and this should be recognised by parents and students. West Beach Dance Academy is a nut free studio.

 

ATTENDANCE AND CLASS GUIDELINES

Studios are open 15 minutes prior to classes commencing for the morning or afternoon. Students are to arrive for class ahead of time. Students attending Private Lessons and Senior Students are required to warm up prior to commencing classes. Students must wear prescribed uniform and present as neat and tidy. Staff members must be advised when early collection of a student from class is planned. Parent/guardian confirmation upon drop-off, or a detailed signed note is required. Students are to show respect towards their teachers and follow instructions. Please ensure students are picked up on time as teachers cannot be expected to wait for you to collect your child. Any belongings left at the studio will be collected and put in the lost property. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to keep up to date via our emails, newsletters, Instagram and Facebook pages. Visiting children (not students) are to be supervised at all times. West Beach Dance Academy does not operate classes on public holidays. We do not have a hot weather policy. If you/your child is going to be absent for more than one lesson, please advise your teacher to ensure your place in the class is saved. Fees will not be discounted for missed lessons
